Yeah, you can ALWAYS get the shape you want with quads and tris. Here’s the reason - all faces are tris. All faces are rendered as tris. If you’re using an N-Gon to get a curve, look at it from a different angle - it doesn’t render correctly. There is NEVER a reason to use N-Gons to get shape. There are some vague reasons to use them for setting up advanced geometry, but it is considered very sloppy form to have N-Gons at all for production models. It breaks edge flow, and causes all sorts of problems. Trust me, get out of the habit. Once you figure a few things out, it becomes very obvious as to why it’s bad. Keep as many quads as possible, tris when needed, and never N-Gons.
