Here's the thing about new functionality, too. It's hard. There are a small number of us that are capable of doing things like that, and they all have limited time. Sometimes Adoxa swoops in with some magic, sometimes he doesn't.

As FF says, it just comes off as a little... entitled. Especially when, for all intents and purposes, you ask for something, you get that thing, and then you ask for more. People like you (yes, sweeping generalization for newer modders) tend to be somewhat parasitic. The attitude doesn't help matters much more.

You've never given us details on your problem. Did you time out? Did you 404? Bad gateway? what are you getting? We can't diagnose a problem if you don't give us symptoms.

Using a proxy is very legal, and the USG has not 'outlawed' this IP. Its just on an old account that doesn't exist anymore. His new links in other threads work just fine. I don't know what ISP you're using, but I use Comcast, quite possibly the most evil ISP behind Time Warner Cable, and I can get to his site juuuuuuuuuuuust fine.

I do not. However, the techniques involved are pretty much the same across the board.

Maybe I missed something... why is SVN involved in this?

And most of us don't have time to take on a 2nd (or oftentimes, 3rd) job teaching someone. Especially someone with an ASD. I've taught several people with ASDs before, and it's not a simple process. The best I can do is point you at the resources we already have.

Because 'we' are not a unified group, and it is not a developer tool, but a community tool compiled by a community member. 'We' do this in our free time, and 'we' decide what we publish for. I can tell you as a game designer myself, that MANY companies maintain legacy versions of suites because most places DON'T update plugins for every new version.

It supports 2010/2011 all editions.

There's no trick for 'fl-ready' models. There are two exporters - the MS3D exporter, and the 3ds Max 2010/2011 Exporter. The Max Exporter supports smoothing groups, and DX9 vmesh data.

There are some general poly count limitations, but there are ways around it in both exporters, though 3ds is more flexible. I don't remember the numbers off the top of my head.

Most modders DON'T have the know how to make proper textures. Of all the skills in the general modding community, texture artists are the second most scarce, behind proper high-level programmers.

I'm telling you, you sound just like me about 3 years ago. 'I can do it, but I don't want to.'

What's really happening here is that you aren't satisfied with what you can do (you've said as much), therefore you don't like doing it... therefore you won't get better at it. Making a metallic texture isn't hard, it just takes a few tricks. They're stupid obvious, but easy to overlook. I am going to keep harassing you till you try. Someone did the same for me, and I hated him a bit, but it was worth it.

Its reaaaaaaaaaaaaly not that hard, gentlemen. The most annoying part of it is generating good UVs. After that, its a cakewalk, just time spent. Sit down, and just do it. That's really all there is to it.

Be epic. Know what, screw it. School's out till late June for me, I'm free for a while. Add me on skype, anubis714. I'll run a seminar. I can get ya'll up to pro-grade in a day.
