few problems i just remembered..

1st.. freemoon's .ini will still be encrypted..
2nd everything pertaining to 1

I'm busy right now.. but latter on today (if another doesn't chime in with another solution or a mod before me) I'll make this for you.

say.. 12 hours, b'cuz im in a good mood. it'll be straight up overwrites and placed in your freeelancer instal.. no FLMM needed and using a modified SDK

simple and effective but you'll need to completely delete freelancer should you ever wish to play another mod.

If the mods exists though.. and another knows of it.. then you'll have to use that.. im doing it purley b'cuz i need to get back into the swing of it

Be easier just to do this yourself as a personal project.. would take less than a day at most to learn what to change and to change it all to your specs..

Basically all you need to do is change everything to class 1 (lowest class)

Maybe there's a mod that does this already but.. woah.. good luck finding it in the 100's of old mods with little description.. and most of them will inevitably change *something*

Honestly.. i'd just read up a bit on how to re-code things.. would take less than a few hours to make this and something like this is VERY easy to do

& no.. im not making it (lol) :-p im flat out busy with my own modding nightmares hehe

What mod?? sometimes FLMM isn't needed at all.. but its rare as only I and a few others pack our mods in a non FLMM fashion, other mods without a mass of .xml (just the activation/name script.. no alterations) can also be installed without FLMM like so..

1. Copy Freelancer to new Directory, making sure the file your copying from is a fresh install
2. unpack mod somewhere, normaly just changing the .flmm extension to a .zip or .7z will work as that's all we do in reverse.
3. carefully "hard patch" your Freelancer copy with the mods files.. pretty easy, anything in DATA goes in DATA (whole) same for BIN & EXE main folders.. there's no need to go any deeper than that.. copy/move these 3 to your new Freelancer.
4. having already cleared your savegame as posted above, now browse to your modded EXE folder and make a shortcut from the main .exe to your desktop.. for vista do the funky things to that desktop shortcut ie: admin/run in 98/disable themes

I'll say again.. this only works with a few less .xml intensive mods.. for say. it wouldn't activate arghs toolkit as that's all .xml

Yeah i thought hex editing was awesome hard till i did a few edits & quickly realized its some rather basic stuff.. with huge results

Your going to have to raise the overall scanning ranges via hex.. then make a whole run of different scanners in your .ini, and then alter the markets/loadouts so there all in play.

You have to learn about 4 things.. but each one will add more knoledge to your modding ability's and thats never a bad thing.. and they all take less then 30 mins to learn

EDIT: for npc's there's extra scanning/fire params in the pilot data as well.. original values i believe are 5000.. thats some indepth stuff though but i'd thought i'd add it here as you may want to look at that latter

Give it another year...

A certain industry Mogul is pushing for the release of old games into an open source GPL licence.. my bet is after Tech4/Doom3 goes OS a few other games will follow suit.

If anyone's seen the keynote speech for Quakecon this year.. and knows a little about Carmack.. its the most passionate/stern i've ever seen him about anything.. he stares direct into the camera as if to make it known he's sick of the BS and hoarding of old code... He's also very close with MS.

The stone has been dropped in the pond.. industry wise.. now we just have to wait and see where the waves spread.. not holding my breath.. but its kind of like Metallica saying "were giving away our old albums for free now.. others should too"

There's still a mountain of problems outside MS though.. I believe Ubisoft is the current distro for FL.. once they decide the printing cost's outweigh the income.. then we have a chance.

I need to ask a question of you all.. and if anyone's ever seen this problem before.. or knows what may be causing it..

I have a client for XLR that cant get out of NY system.. all the gates CTD for them.. sounds simple enough.. only their the only case of the error, both Wolfie and I cant replicate it.. and i've never had any other client have this problem.. or i would have heard of it long before now.

We've gone through the whole, re-install a clean client.. make sure 3d sound is off and everything that normally causes weird crashes.. but there still stuck.. and im totally stumped as to a cause.

Has anyone ever had this before.. can certain hardware cause this? Open to just about any idea right about now..

you all forget one important fact, Freelancer is awesome because WE MADE IT AWESOME.. our memory's.. our clans.. our servers.. our Community as a whole (yes..even the bad parts)

No game can capture/replace that.. EVER

Oh and of course.. our Mods.. them nifty things that still continue to add to the awesome

Gmax has a awful registration process.. Blender is outright awesome.. but not very newbie friendly.

Trying to model in Milkshape will just give you ulcers (lol) its way better as a end-pipeline tool and at its minimum a texture tool, but your really gonna want to do you main modeling in another proggy.

XSI is also awesome.. all are free xcept milkshape

Totally possible.. you'll need to do some heavy fx editing at the .ale level for engines (so it looks right) but the idea is entirely plausible.

Something like the Boron Homeworld in X2.. sounds rather tasty

It's looking very awesome

I however would like to see what it means for other's though, this is some excellent work.. but I'm worried for everyone else (and obviously myself) how much work per .cmp/.mat.. is there anything we can do at this stage to offset that workload latter??

I dare not touch anything in my mod for instance, for fear of having to totally rework much of it when the public(ish) version is released..

Sry to not bee all woohoo and all that.. but its a legitimate question that been bugging me since you first released this mega news, as a single person team.. i like to be prepared
