I do not want my sites to be presented on the TLR site and others voiced the same. There are many reasons and a very large part of the FL community has bad feelings about TLR for similar reasons.

You would loose many others if TLR gets involved in this project. If you think its worth loosing those other sites... sites which are more active than tlr... sites which contribute more to the FL community... sites which run important lancer projects - then fine.
Since november 07 TLR has treated other fl communities like ****, trying to damage and in case of some server communities to destroy them.
Now they expect getting treated like all the other communities which stuck together, started to work together and help each other.
Somehow that does not seem to be right.
There is too much bad blood and the latest troubles have shown that we cant expect any changes - not to mention the latest statements about the FL community by the TLR owner.
Just remember how TLR has act towards Starport and SWAT with the link replacement on their forum -> www.lol-portal.com and www.the-spamport.net.
IMHO the remaining FL communities should continue their cooperation. TLR has excluded themself from the FL community.

Note: the statements above are exclusivly about the bar and why i dont think it would be a good idea to add TLR (as oppinions about this topic were requested)

but he is allowed to make stupid claims against me while i am not allowed to defend myself right?
fine
ill shut up now
please remove the SWAT links from the bar... it looks like you want to add TLR to it no matter what they did or still do

1. your explaination does not explain why suddenly TLR is listed as link without approval
2. to take without asking is still wrong
3. mentioning that other FL sites are build based on TLR material and saying that this has something to do with copyright issiues is somewhat weird as TLR hold exactly 0 copyrights on the files (downloads) that are used on other sites
TLR has 0 exclusive rights on those files especially since they were released for public (until the original author does say something different
4. TLR still hosts a bunch of my files eventhough i requested the removal (this is another copyright issue)
5. You still seem to make unreasonable claims about me and keep ignoring all the stuff that i explained to you last week
if you have something to claim then prove your words... and then im going to prove them wrong

you dont need to be confused... thats simple theft and breaking copyrights again
azza stole the script... uploaded it to his server and hosts the "Freelancer Community Network" now without permission of the script owner, without the permission of the owners of the Freelancer Community Network and without the permission of all those which are presented there.

The TLR site with the TLR link:

The TLR sites source code where you can see the stolen script:

Theft - a clear copyright violation and very poor behaviour.

You can decide for TLR but then please remove the above mentioned links. Like already stated i dont like that my work gets presented together with a site which admins still keep telling me how they could whipe out my sql databases (that happened just a few days ago).

And the large userbase is just a big illusion since about 95% (maybe even more meanwhile) of the TLR members are 100% inactive. The only reason why there got so many registered members in such a short time is because they force ppl to register in order to get downloads (all other FL communities offer this service for free -> no registration).

In that case id like to get the SWAT Portal, Crossfire, Blasteruniverse and BloodGuard removed from the bar.
I dont want to get my stuff presented together with a community that hacked other FL communities (TLR) and constantly attacked them since november 2007.

I thought these conditions would be valid:
- site has the FL Community Network bar installed on a frequently visited page
- site is related to Freelancer
- site does not violate any laws and does not contain porn, etc.. (use common sense here, we wont include questionable sites)

A similar thread does exist on the SWAT Portal with the purpose to animate FL players to post their ideas about how FL should be

We have many talented modders which are able to create new concepts based on their knowledge... and we have many "normal" players which have good ideas that might become real.
It does not matter if your idea sounds too complicated or if some other guy told you that it is impossible to realize.
The idea is just to collect ideas for the mod creators... no matter how weird and unrealistic these ideas seem to be. The modders can decide if they work on one of these ideas and create new conceptional mods. On SWAT this thread has turned out to be very creative and already has lead to the creation of new concepts.

Give us your ideas and we will see if we can realize a few of them somehow.

there is a point when planetary resources get less important
low gravity objects (moons, asteroids) hold enough material... to build the basics is the problem (some kind of space factories)
thinking about space combat also will lead to thoughts about space economy

not to mention that there has to be something out there worth fighting for
it would make much sense if the US government launches space ships to attack the iraq (just an example)

Is space combat possible?
yes

but it wouldnt look like in spaceshooters
reason: physics

1. you need good engines
that means they need to be powerful enough to move high mass (space ships of course will have a high mass)
and they need to be able to reach a very good speed
upto now no such engine has been developed... there is not even conceptional work or ideas how to realize this
so far engines are either fast (on long distances) or powerful (on short distances)... both is not possible

2. guns
preferable lasers or other beam weapons
basically its possible to build guns that are powerful enough to destroy "spaceships"
but those guns have 2 problems
- they are heavy... -> high mass (which again requires even bigger ships to carry them and extrem good engines)
- they need MUCH energy... -> you will need to carry a giant powerplant on your spaceship + enough big condensators to get enough voltage loaded to the guns (which leads to a big mass problem again and that leads to the engine problem)

3. high speed + mass
speed + mass = inertia
inertia + changing the course of a ship in a short period time = organic mud on the wall

very likely the only space combat in the new future (next few hundred years) will be stationary objects (i.e.space stations) which fire low mass projectiles (i.e.missiles) on other stationary objects because these missiles require less technology then space ships and can get on a good speed very fast

no need to test it
i experienced similar stuff but wasnt able to find the error source yet
but i experience also very high (50-100msec) serverload from time to time (very likely because of the big mod)
