Everspace Alpha released! Space Sim News

If you have not heard about Everspace yet: it is a space (arcade) sim that plays very much like Freelancer. Check out the Alpha launch trailer:



It is still very much bare-bones and does not have a lot of content, but as a Freelancer fan it is surely worth to check out or keep in mind:

Infinity: Battlescape Kickstarter has started! Space Sim News

If you did not know yet, Infinity is still in development and they have now started their Kickstarter!



They have toned down the scope from a full dynamic universe to a combat-focused game that takes place in a single but true to scale star system. Check it out here:

Vega Strike is a first-person space trading and combat simulator, developed for Microsoft Windows,
POSIX Unix-like operating systems such as Linux, FreeBSD and Mac OS X systems.
Many of the core game mechanics of Vega Strike are indirectly inspired by Elite.
The successors to Elite, namely Wing Commander: Privateer, were particularly strong influences.
Released under the GNU General Public License, Vega Strike is free and open source software.

X Rebirth is finally here, at least in Europe, few more days for America. Strangely though, I find myself waiting for some reviews before I decide on this one, it looks kinda weird graphically. Have they overdone it with all the lights, lightmaps and trails etc?

Elite: Dangerous Capital Ship Battle Video Space Sim News

Here is the capital ship battle video used as part of the composer selection process for Elite: Dangerous. The video contains the music created for the pitch by the winning composer Erasmus Talbot.

The video also helped us develop other aspects of the game such as ship materials, GUI layout and special effects. Look out for David Braben's next dev diary where he will talk about why we created this video. We'll also follow up with a detailed art making of video to highlight how the artists benefitted from putting this video together.

Black Prophecy released for EU players, official North American beta starting Space Sim News

As of today the Black Prophecy European live service has started. On two servers, European players are invited to begin their journey into Black Prophecy’s exciting universe.

Players who have already participated in the open beta phase will keep their existing accounts but have their characters and clans wiped. In appreciation for the past months of testing we have prepared a small surprise package with some premium items that players who have played since beginning of the open beta will find in their premium storages.
