Over the past several months since our demo release, FriendlyFire has been working on fine tuning our DX9 integration as well as adding a few extra components to make this mod look even better. The below video highlights these news additions: lens flare, improved dynamic lighting, reflection maps, distortion maps and our work in progress shadow mapping.

Freelancer Mod Studio gets real models Freelancer Coding News
Posted by stfx on 2012/5/16 19:50:00 (41286 reads)

The day has finally come that Freelancer Mod Studio has implemented real models. With this it is now actually possible for modular station editing and in general makes correct object placement in systems way more easier. However shapes have still their place in Freelancer Mod Studio as those help finding tiny objects like fighter ships. There are also a bunch of other improvements so check out the changelog!

Official Roleplay guide and DX9 Updates Freelancer Coding News

All I can say it has been a heck of week in development. That's to do with a few factors, one mainly being I've been on vacation for a week from my residency program. Fortunately, this has allowed me to dedicate my time working on some of the models in the mod and getting them to use the full capabilities of the DX9 engine. As a result, I've been able to upgrade all 107 ships of our shiplist. To see that link, click here. About 85% of those ships have normal and specular mapping applied. The rest will be added at a later date when we upgrade the XWAUP ships we're currently using for the mod. For those of you that have missed some of the videos, here's two of my favourites:
