Chris Robert's linked in profile indicates that http://cloudimperiumgames.com/ is his skunkworks project.

This site has appeared http://robertsspaceindustries.com/start/ ... 6 days to go and I pulled this image from it

Funnily enough, I was just looking for Chris Roberts last night. I wish he'd get hold of the FL IP, though...

The countdown has dropped to 4 days. I'm really interested in this.

I've had eye's on for a while too, but I would imagine there's little chance that there's anything like a game on the end of that clock in such a short space of time. Did you notice that ex digital anvil is one of the groups he's a member of on linkedin, some 40 odd members in it. Was hoping someone might be able to get some info on the tools used to make freelancer from them but no progress seems to be possible so far on that front.

I'm sure we'll find out more when that countdown ends. We may even find some answers to long-standing questions.

Wow!! I'm stoked! I just hope it's not some Xbox exclusive crap

Looking at this: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/commen ... this_game_needs_a_sequel/

What is this: http://robertsspaceindustries.com/
(Edit: earlier today the countdown wasn't up, just an unfinished site with some spaceship concept art and a couple of test blog posts)

It tastes like a PR thing hah

/edit:

haha, nice trivia from the reddit thread:

A year or so ago I was at an autograph convention in Burbank and Ian Ziering was there doing autographs - mostly for dancing with the stars. I brought in 2 things I wanted him to autograph - my copy of Freelancer (he was the voice of Trent) and my copy of Savate starring Olivier Gruner. Saving a bit of money, I asked him what he would perfer to autograph. He went for Savate because he really liked Gruner (who doesn't?!?!) - but was flummoxed about Freelancer and confessed he never played it or even heard his voice back.
I assured him the game was amazing.

You're not the only one. Also, this

Aww, I was on the dev team for this game. I was laid off before it shipped though, my name was moved from Software Test Manager to "Special Thanks" credit. I felt robbed, but man that was the best test group ever. Mark, Jamie, and Nigel especially. That game went through so many redesigns in the last 6 months. At that point it was "Get this #$%% done, or else". I think it came out pretty damn good. Props if you found the monkey planet. At least I think that's what it was.

Working in Austin was AMAZING. If you're in game development and a developer from Austin calls you, don't think, just go.

Edit: It should be noted that Chris Roberts worked very little on this game. I guess from what I can see on Wikipedia he was definatly visable on the press side, but I think he has a brother that did a decent amount of work from time to time (think, executive producer capacity). I can't recall ever meeting Chris though when working on this game.

I love hearing from the people who worked on FL.

It gives me some hope since design and font kinda reminds me of FL.

I always wish, on reading from somebody from DA's team, that they'd go "Oh by the way, here's a copy of the source I had lying around on an old hard drive".

I have some info on good authority:

The game will be a high end PC only game which will rly push current hardware to its limit.

It should make FL/Wing Commander fans very happy especially if you remember what FL should have looked like before it was bought by MS.

The full announcement will be in October but it will be still worth to have a look at robertsspaceindustries.com on Sept 10th (when the countdown hits 0).

So it seems like the nearly dead hopes of a worthy Freelancer sequel is still alive? Very good!

Anyone knows what

Footer The Greek
Inside the deep dark depths of Space, lies a greek man named Footer. He's as big as a mountain, with the heart of a tiger. Literally.

does mean?

(My only idea is: Atticus Rockford)
