it is possible this way, didit once this way in the beginning but it's perhaps not the best solution. But I'm not the pro to make such conclusions

besides, the cloudmap is just way too clear.

and this is just a render with textures like this one
http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/earthcloud.php
(added 2004-11-04 15:24)
(look at the cloud formation over Canada and look on the black cloudmap in the left upper corner - similarities? - yeh)

and for the surface i think they used one of the Jestr Earth maps
http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/earth.php
(those with layers)

its not a photo, that everybody knows (i hope)
but the article also said

Quote:
The Blue Marble series was pieced together from thousands of images taken over many months by the satellite's remote-sensing device Modis, of every square kilometre of the Earth's surface.

i would have added a few more different textures

but i love the idea, it's awesome. And the model itself is cool too. Great job.

actually it looks okay

two things only:
i don't like the Imperial emblem on the model

and about that green surface, i mean of course it's a fictional model and no one really cares about the reality.
I just asked me, is it a greenish layer of paint? And why is it rusty when it's in space.
My suggestion, maybe it looks bit better if you would have a texture with metal like base texture and chipped off paint.

Just an oppinion you asked for but still great work

NOOOOOO what have you done to the glorious Babylon 5

but it looks awesome anyway. you have very cool ideas to merge ScFI franchises together, btw, the domes on the Oltenia, i think they are from a Wraith Hive ship, is that correct?

very cool work, but one small detail that you have overseen, since your cockpit glass is transparent and you are not using any cockpit mesh, you can look through the ship (e.g. when the planet was behind the ship)

never understand what your problem is with the "weird" texturing.
As we can see, it shows us you are well skilled

Looking forward to your textured Oltenia, i will put alot of work in the Guangdong, that's for sure
