I recently re-installed Freelancer (on Win10).

This was my recipe:

a. Freelancer clean install
b. MS patch v1.1
c. Jason FLP - (the unofficial 1.4 patch and other fixes)
d. Installed the no-cd exe

Vanilla Freelancer played perfectly online. I found that the single player campaign did not.

When I came to try the Discover mod, it did not like my "fixed" vanilla Freelancer install.

So, I simply uninstalled Freelancer, re-installed it again, applied the MS v1.1 patch (cos I wanted it to be totally MS up to date).

Then I ran the Discover installer and it installed first time. Make sure you run the Discovery installer with admin rights.

Been playing it without a hitch for a week now.

Ping me if you need more details...

Welcome to the forum.

I hope you have a lot of fun. FL is easily my favourite game!

I only play one mod, "Genesis". Simply superb, in my opinion...

The trailer is very impressive!

However, the reviews so far on Amazon.co.uk do not rate the game at all... think I will watch from a distance for now

I know trading ships are not the best for dogfighting, but often I need to fight - usually when my trade lane gets disrupted!

My strategy is to run, while using the turrets to cover my escape.

I would like to engage the Goto so that the auto-pilot can avoid obstacles.

Is there any way to use Goto without it engaging the Cruise and disabling my guns?

Pheonix 1.07 Mod Server Disconnection

I am just getting into the online multiplays side of Freelancer...

I like the Phoenix mod and I using the 1.07 client version, I have only been able to find one compatible server "flserverkummin". No worries, maybe it is just not that popular mod

The issue I have is that I seem to lose connection to the server, and when trying to reconnect, the server does not appear to be in the list any more.

I suspect that the server owner (no idea who or where) is losing their internet link, but I would be grateful if anyone has any other information or advice.

Are there any other Phoenix mods running? If so, what is the magic I need to connect to them?

Thanks,

Jerico

I was able to buy a copy last week on amazon.co.uk. It was not new, but I was able to get an original release (has a paper manual) in good condition for just over £5, delivered within a few days.

Interesting. Never thought to think that non-English versions of the Explosive label release might be different!

Also, I can confirm that the original (English) release did come with a paper manual, along with a much nicer box

Quick question...

Can anyone confirm if the Explosive label release of Freelancer comes with a paper manual? Or is it only an electronic pdf version on the game disc?

Just not sure if I have lost mine, or never actually had one

Might just save me a lot of time trying to find it...

Many thanks

Thank you.

Already availed myself of a little help - needed some assistance with what patches to install - I like things to be right

Really enjoying this game again. It really is the best of this genre that I have encountered!

Thanks for your responses.

I decided to re-install Freelancer, for 2 reasons.

1. I needed an unpatched copy to install the Discover Mod:
2. I wanted to get the patching right. (I know, pedantic, but if anything is worth doing, it is worth doing right)

So, I clean installed Freelancer, next I installed the Official MS Patch 1.1, and then I downloaded and installed "Jasons Freelancer Patch" (which I think is known as JFLP).

Anyway, all seems ok, but I have some observations:

1. The Discovery Mod seems a bit odd. I am on Manhatton with the basic ship that is equiped with no guns, and I have only 500C. Well, I have some work to do.
2. The Discovery mod install said that the Audio Dialog file copies (from the clean Freelancer install) failed. I copied them manually...
3. I noticed that Freelancer now supports the widescreen res of my monitor - 1440x900, Bonus!
4. The JFLP download file had a weird name "jflp.exe.bin". I removed the ".bin" bit and it ran ok - Identified itself as v1.2 in the JFLP readme, but mentioned that it included lots of other patches of variouse version numbers. Potentailly confusing, but I am happy to ignore it
5. The JFLP download page mentioned some issue with a mission - what is that all about?

Thanks for your help! I really am looking forward to getting back into this great game.

Just getting back into this game...

I have done the usual "before I ask a silly question that has been asked a million time before" research on this forum and withh google, but still I am a little confused.

The conclusion of my research seemed to suggest the the best install sequence for patches was:

1. Original game from the CD.
2. Official MS v1.1 patch.
3. Quickfix 1.0c patch.

I have done this, but I have since found that the main Freelancer menu screen still says v1.0. Is that right, or have I gone wrong somewhere?

Presumably the next thing to install is FLMM 1.31 and play some mods

Many thanks in advance,

Jerico

Well I am back to Freelancer...

Played the game many years ago. I recall I completed it, but I had to cheat a little to do so! I found it impossible to survive long enough to dock with the Osiris after getting out of the Alaska system without the difficulty=0 cheat.

Anyway, between then and now, I have looked for a replacement. Clearly without luck - I am back hopefully to get stuck into some of the mods!
