    Nice pointer, Daywalker, thanks.

CubeMapGen is still supported by a new project, and there is a later version (1.6) here: http://code.google.com/p/cubemapgen/downloads/list

The author has a blog here to help with the new features: http://seblagarde.wordpress.com/2012/06/10/amd-cubemapgen-for-physically-based-rendering/

So, It’s been a while, just curious if you have had any progress on this?

Another issue I noticed that gave me this error was my files were in my C:\program files(x86) folder.
Windows 7 Locks it down, so I had to move my mods folder to another path to edit my dll files.

There’s none, that’s why you’re being directed to the ALE Editor.

The only previewer is Freelancer itself.

On a side note, stress testing the program myself (basically using it for very much its purpose, but extensively), I found a few bugs easy to play around but which definately must and will be fixed when i figure a new formula for angular motions. Please keep them in mind so far:

1 - The input of mass is interpreted as an integer, so any float values will give an error message.
2 - The angular values output field gives a spelling error that doesn’t quite crash freelancer or even cause a message in the FLSpew, but does affect motion unless corrected: It says “rotation_intertia” instead of “rotation_inertia”.
3 - For some reason in the list of functions under the linear calculation button I inattentively put also one requesting values from angular calculations. Since however the linear values are not affected by angular calculation, the float values in the cockpit offsets and calculation of angular values is merely a formality that by the version uploaded here must be done prior to linear calculations.
4 - Apparently the formula I have been working with for angular motions is imperfect. It takes into account linear accelerations during angular motion or rather motion around a different point. With slow accelerations and high cockpit radii (as on larger ships) the issue is insignificant; however the closer the cockpit gets to the pivot point the more the ship becomes immaneurverable which makes the values more or less useless. Technically there is a div by 0 error when the cockpit has a 0 radius for some axis.

A new build including all the bug fixes will be available once i have combined and implemented a solution to problem #4. If anyone wishes to help me understanding the forces during rotation, their relation to newtonian linear physics and most importantly forces affecting a pilot in angular motion, you are certainly welcome to. Also, I am open to suggestions for additional features to be added in the next version.

They have bugs that can’t be corrected. If new features are desired, they cannot be implemented.

Essentially, you can keep using FLEd-IDS and HardCMP just like you can keep using Windows 98, but that doesn’t mean you should. UTF Editor is better than HardCMP on virtually all fronts, has more features and is more robust.

Furthermore, UTF Editor is the only model viewer/editor which is compatible with the normal mapping-enabled model format used by Freeworlds, so if you want to take advantage of that you’ll have to move to it at one point no matter what.

Thanks FriendlyFire, now I know what you mean.

    It does. Thanks Skotty 🙂

The blue bubble in the second pic is actually a mine going off, not the sur hit.

For example i use blender because it have advanced features, not very much memory use and you can get a portable version and use it from usb stick for example (all freelancer stuff i keep them on a stick :)) ).
You can find many blender tutorials on the net (youtube for example) - that`s how i learned too.

Is everyone aware that there are two versions of the Convex Tool?

The one that does the conversion without opening a dialogue to set the “Skin Width” and “Max vertices” is faulty!

So here is a copy of the good one, it is already modified to add “_lod1” to the end of each convex shape name.

Just select all the groups in MilkShape’s Groups tab that you want to make convex shapes for and start the tool.

When the dialogue window opens, leave the “Skin Width” setting to 0. This setting leaves a gap between the new convex shape skin and the original surface, in MilkShape units, 1= approx 1 FL metre. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with values between 0 & 1, I was hoping that it would so that I can set a small “puff-up” value.

Note that the “_lod1” suffix is only needed when exporting sur parts one at a time for use with sur_splicer.

The tool puts the convex shapes for each group at the bottom of the groups list. Once you are happy with all the new convex shapes, delete the original groups at the top of the list, without the “_lod1” suffix.

You must delete the “_lod1” suffix from each part/group name if you are going to export all groups at once, or if you are exporting in .obj format to use Schmackbolzen’s obj-sur converter.

If you are going to export the groups one at a time and use sur splicer to make your sur manually, then you need to leave the “_lod1” suffix on each part name.

Also have you tried using the previous version? I just saw your using 2.2 I’m using 2.1 😉

    I did indeed redownload it.

Using the prev version might be worth a try. It’s not on Adoxa’s site though. Maybe you can email it?

Back. Here are my finds, in ascending order of importance:

    1. My pizza was nice. A simple over pizza from Dr. Oetker, with pieces of chicken on it,

    2. FL_Error_Checker and DB_Hash_CRC_Calc work!! At least, they open. At the moment I have no job for it, so I can’t test it, but I have no reason to believe they won’t. (I have to be in bed with an hour, and have other stuff to do so can’t test atm.)
