Hi all.

I wrote a program, for Discovery 4.86 server admins so they could translate the hex codes in the tags.ini and base.ini files. If anyone would be interested in such, respond to this thread or PM me here.

I would put up the link, but I tried that in the Other Servers section of GC. They didn't seem to like it and removed the post.

I know, there are some security concerns, but if you can't trust your admin, you need to find another server to play on.

Anyway, If you're interested, I'll PM you the link, or if an admin here approves it, I'll edit this post and put the link in it.

I've checked with FF and there shouldn't be any problems with this. If someone has access to such a program on the server, they can do a lot worse than reveal base passwords.

The DGC topic you mentioned is here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=133339
It was moved to the correct forum, not removed.

Sorry. I had searched after I saw it wasn't in the spot I posted. Must have used the wrong search terms.

As for why you would need it, in the base.ini files, the infocard text, ally list, passwords and such are in a hexcode, and it's a special hexcode with seperation characters there. This program takes that code and translates it into plain text. And will translate plain text into the hexcode the base.ini files use. If a user loses his base password, you can get it for him. If their infocard has inappropriate language or such, you can change that as well.

Also the tags.ini file uses the same hexcode for all info except last access. You can get info from it as well if say the faction leader fogot his rename password.

Anyway, here is the link.

Just unzip it and run it, no muss, no fuss, no installation.

I have updated this tool to v1.1

The link to the update is FLHexTool1.1.zip

Change Log:
Added a system locator function that will show the system number from a dropdown box of all systems. It is also possible to find a system by typing or pasting a number into a text field. An error message will inform the user if the number entered is not a valid system designator.

Same deal as before. Just unzip it and run it. No installation needed. One note here; if the systems.dat file that is included is not in the same directory as the program, the location function will not be available.
