Still not convinced? Even after all that? Well my friends, keep reading for various comments and feedback our Mod and Community have received.

"This mod is really fun, I like the mining that has been added to the game, and how balanced it is!" xXkillaXx

"With the vets I've played along side and the newbies getting into it because of the mod, it is truly an amazing community and product. If you're looking for a mod that is simply amazing, I really recommend this mod. It's simply the best out there." Robert Merlow

"I'm a veteran of Freelancer. I've owned the game since it came out and sampled every major mod to be released. Shattered Worlds is in my opinion a triumph. Excellent balancing and ship additions make for a more varied scenery in combat, and the mining system is by far the best I've ever encountered. While adding a great many things to Freelancer, there's still a very strong presence of the original game which provides an excellent blend of the old and the new." Tio_Holtzmann

RRJDS 2.82 Mod Released

After 2 years of frustrations and brainaches, RRJDS 2.82 - The Prophecy - is now released and active on our server.

Image

The Mod itself is not the main attraction to our server, but our Guild is.

We, the Reputation Repair and Judicial Distribution Specialist Guild, have been established for approximately 6 years, founded by original Beta testers of Freelancer, and our name reflected the importance of repairing reps to permit universal trading and of handing out swift judicial punishments to those human players who behaved badly against us and other players in those early days of mob behaviour on many servers.

We have maintained our standards of Fairness, Sportsmanship and Honour - our "Three Pillars of Virtue" - since the beginning, and insist on those being upheld on our servers, so that we have created a pleasant environment for our players where everyone feels he/she is among friends without risk of idiotic harassment or mindless blasting or verbal insults. Our members carry the same standards to the other servers they play on, and our methods have spread to many servers over the years.

Our Guild members work together to train new players, role play, build up Guuild wealth, and stage events of interest to our players in general, we have not been very active recently for various reasons for the past year, but now that our new RRJDS 2.82 mod is released we will be concentrating on reviving our activities and welcoming new members.

Incidentally, many of our members are over 40 - I'm even much older!

So don't feel geriatric, since I don't!

Come on in and join us, help us run our events, everyone of like mind is welcome.

Discovery Freelancer 4.85: Reunion Release
User Rating: / 0
Written by Igiss
Wednesday, 10 June 2009

The development of Discovery 4.85 has taken 1,5 years to complete. Now we, the newly formed Discovery Development Team, present to you the result of our work. The wait is over. After months of online beta testing, Discovery Freelancer 4.85: Reunion is released and available for download.

Year is 817 After Settlement (A.S.), 16 years after the single-player campaign of Freelancer, and one year after Discovery 4.84 took place. A Sirius-wide war is on the brink of engulfing the sector. While Kusari pushes its onslaught against Bretonia deep into the Leeds system, Bretonia attempts to surround Kusari forces in Tau-31. Liberty attacks Rheinland in Bremen and Hudson, and Rheinland has to pull back to defend its own borders. As if this was not enough, in late 817 the Independent Miners Guild encountered a large number unknown ships in the Orkney system. The ships belonged to a rebel group formed within the long-lost House of Gallia, the existence of which remained unknown for centuries.

The storyline is just a portion of the progress taking place in the new Discovery version. Increased development time and an increased number of developers allowed us to finalize all the features we were planning to implement, and make 4.85 the largest ever update for Discovery mod. We introduced 110 new ship models, with most new ships receiving custom hitboxes. More than a hundred new weapon and equipment types have been added, many with custom weapon projectile and hit effects. 11 new systems were included, and about 30 previously available systems were updated, all of them following much higher quality standards than in previous versions.

The mod now has a renewed balance system for weapons, equipment and ships, plus a fully revamped economy system that provides profitable routes for all locations and factions. To add depth to the new economy, 46 new commodity types were introduced. The role-playing ID system (used on the official server and most other servers running our mod) has received 53 new IDs. The new version also contains about 7000 new and rewritten infocard texts for various new and old ships, items, and places.

The integrated Discovery automatic updater allows players to download and apply new updates easily without having to re-download and re-install the whole package. The updater does not restrict offline play, and you will still be able to play single-player without an internet connection.

The Nomad Shrine  Rogue Destroyer

If you prefer online play, you are welcome to join the official Discovery Freelancer RP 24/7 server and a number of other servers running our mod. All servers that have Discovery installed are listed in dsupdate.cfg file located in Freelancer\EXE folder to allow quick connect to all of them without any complications. To add another server, simply add its address to dsupdate.cfg.

Feel free to browse our ModDB profile for more information, and download the mod from its ModDB download page.

Freelancer Sirius, as some of you know, has been around since 2007, as a fan site. Well, we have a permenant site freelancersirius.dk3.info. But, the main info of this news post is this: Freelancer Sirius is becoming a Server! I am working with a friend to create our site, I gave him my idea for FLS, to make a server and a mod for FLS. The server isn't yet online, but the website is fully developed, also, the site is built with a chat box, blog, a FLC page (that lists many other servers and site) from Freelancer Community Site, and the SPFLC bar from here. We are using phpBB3 as our forum. The mod will have custom ships, systems, equipment, and more! We have a Modding Team, so if you want to join in (especially if you can build custom ships) will be appreciated, we already have one person added to our team. All are welcome to join the site, and if you want, apply for our Modding Team. Enjoy our server and website !

Monkey Universe 5th Birthday 23rd April

As part of the birthday celebrations MU is introducing something it thinks is unique to FL mods - your own personal pilot.

However as these are coded into the mod we are not giving them away :)

To get one however is relatively straight forward, log 100 base visits and 150 jump holes and you can have one. :)

"Rules"
They will be added to a ships cargo if the above are met and you provide the wording in compliance with the guidelines at, http://monkeyuniverse.forumonline.biz/flight-logs-and-pilot-backgrounds-f26/

1 ship = 1 pilot so you can have up to 5 different ones if you have 5 ships all with the above requirements.

Final decision on wording of bio's will lie with MPA's.

Serious breaches of normal MU rules will result in pilot loss.

Things that may come later associated with this add-in.
a) Personal Icons so your pilots has it's own piccy
b) Use of NPC scanning to track, hunt various pilots

The Void

The Void mod now includes over 115 distinctive and unique space systems for the players to visit and explore. This coupled with over 2,500 locations to land makes the The Void one of, if not the largest Freelancer Multiplayer servers remaining. The 2115 mod also moves Freelancer away from the standard multi player platform and enters the MMO environment due to the quantity of content added to the mod.

To ensure all types of player are catered for, new ships, weaponry and new commodities to trade with have also been added. In addition to these and adding to the already immersive game play are new NPC factions and additional role play functionality for players.

The not-for-profit community and fan site coupled with the huge multiplayer server has continued to grow and expand even though the game is over six years old.

Whilst the game spawned many multi player servers in its infancy of release, very few have been able to continue to expand, add new players and provide new elements to the game as successfully as The Void. This is recognised in the number of new players registering (for free) at the community website – http://www.voidserver.com.

The community of players now over 10,000 and over 7,000 active community members provides a wealth of insight into the success and development of the original game and confirms that the Freelancer game still attracts new players.

The long awaited space game – Freelancer was released some six years ago to great acclaim and excellent reviews from critics, however, few thought that after six years the game would still have a healthy multiplayer community. Microsoft Game Studios described the game as experiencing a vast, open-ended universe filled with an infinite number of adventures. You are the freelancer Edison Trent, an intergalactic jack-of-all-trades. Your mission: whatever you want. Become a smuggler or a ruthless space thug, a naval hero or a trader. Dodge through asteroid fields while piloting elite spacecraft. The action is endless as you make your way through 48 known star systems. Greed, morality, compassion, anger... whatever motivates you, the dynamic universe will respond. Take the first step. The universe is waiting.

The S³ Experiment

The Starport Story Spotlight is a feature new to The Starport giving the talented writers amongst our servers some well deserved spotlight attention.

The feature will work in the following way;

  • Every server is invited to submit 1 RP Story line from their server.
  • An announcement will be made in a new dedicated area of the SP forums announcing the start of the one week period in which the writers should post thier stories.
  • Once this one week period is up and all entries are in, a vote will be thrown up so that the community can vote for the story they enjoyed the most. This vote will stay up for 2 weeks giving people time to read all the entries and make their decision.
  • At the end of the 2 weeks, after the votes have been counted, A winner will be announced and the winning story will appear as a news article on the SP front page. This will give the winning author and Server some free advertising. The story will also appear as a news item in the front news forum as the winning story.
  • All story submissions should be COMPLETED stories. That means we need a start, a middle and an end. With this in mind, servers can submit story lines that are up to 18 months old.
  • If a story was written between 2 or more writers as a combined effort, all credits must be present and correct. Any entry with the incorrect credits will be disqualified.

Over the next few days I would start discussing this feature with your servers and deciding upon a story you want to submit. As remember, each server can only submit ONE story.

Small hint: You can expect the 1 week entry timer to begin in about 4 days.

More information will follow shortly.

We look forward to seeing what each server puts forward.

The Staff Team.
