FL Companion & FLStat got a bad rep due to abuse... shame..
I personaly love both of them as a modder and a player but as a player i exersise "restraint" (mostly lol) and
leave the tools "at home" .. as a clan subleader though... they were invaluble...
Its a hard choice.. but i'd leave em in ..& take out Datastorm..

Stat can be broken and "lied" too anyways..

NO ID changers.. geesh.. ;D we got enough problems with peeps getting banned then returning with a new AccID and fresh name... hehe thats why god made the IP address lol.. anyways ive had the same AccID ever since day1... why change it?

rest sounds nice.. that all woulda come in handy 2 years ago when i started

I know it wont be as "grand"... but i think u guys/gals should start your own FL-MOTY award...
Kinda like the "emmys" lol.. at least that way its "legit" and from the community.. and (hopefully)
fair.. i know im a dev.. and i play everyone else's mods.. and i love em... we could also vote on
"best new breakthough" and start a "hall of fame" to honor long lost (but never forgotern) mods... sniff sniff...

Just a thought.. i have many... just wanted to share this one

I really dont understand why this "crap" happens in FL... I've seen this year after year.... and now it seems.. there's a whole bevy of "punks" out there who think becuase the games a few years old that they can get away with Cheating, Hacking, and any other antisocial FL "practice" they can getaway with... this is just the "escalation" .. these kids were never taught "edicate" (nor i to spell lol).. and see the web as a "big smackdown" a place to hack on each other.. post fights.. and be generaly obnoxious to all.... We unfortunaly have to put or hard work and "love" out there to be used like a old punching bag by these fools... and they are fools... and this is a perfect example of why im going "underground" for the next 6 months to finish mine.. no modDB... i've never trusted that site or gleamed any "real" info from them... and this is why (the same thing happens alot with HL2 mods too guys... alot!!) you won't be seing XLR as a "contender".. ever.. on Mod DB or up against u lot ... I love this community too much to get into the whole "who's gota better mod" thing... there all darn great!!
and i'll never condone anything like this from any of my players.... its just plain foul

I feel sick now.. and have to throw up... Dam and i woke in such a good mood too.....

.. I too sit and wonder why we havent seen more of these 15fx ?? maybe a "optimisation" problem with everyone blasting
special fx at each other at once lol... still.. reall pwretty... ;D

umm... "nvis_generic"...??? << this may be your problem here m8

if FLMM is looking for a line that says "nvis_generic" .. its only going to find "vis_generic" in FL (vannila) & thus you'll crash

if i were u id look over my script for that nasty little line and change it to "vis_generic" then try agian..

or just hardcode it? ;D

Bounty/Tractor missions??

I wasnt going to ask.. but i cant seem to find any clear solution to a little problem im having with my mod,,,

Ive got new NPC's and new stsyems and all that working fine exept for tractor/bounty missions in the new systems
mission works fine up untill the moment you tractor the "target" and the commision switches to "bring it home" ... crash

this also crashes on the Stock FL NPC's as well ie: bounty hunters/zoners so id say its a "base" problem but thats as far as
i can trace without knowing what ive "missed" whilst coding the new systems. BTW all other missions work fine just the "bring it back to..." ones. this is bugging the crap outa me as its sorta the "last" major bug i need to squash...

Ive searched high and low, dll'd every tut i can get ahold of, pulled out hair and prayed to the gods.. still nada

just a link to the "right" tut would be more than exelent i learn better that way lol..

Where do i put the IDS for my new bases so it works right? .. I can feel it in my bones that its the "KnowledgeMap.ini" or "InfocardMap.ini" ... maybe even the "VignetteParams.ini" and becuase even the "stock" factions crash with this i know its not the new NPC's and its the base IDS...

Everyone i know that "would know" the answer's kinda busy in Real life ATM... sorry to sound like a "whining git" lmao but
this "problem" is the only one i havent quashed in the 2 years ive been learning and building.. so its a real pain

this is the last you'll hear me winge/request/or cry about this topic if no answer.. i'll just remove all tractor based missions from the new systems in my mod looooooool but i'd rather "fix" em ;D

I signed ;D and i'll get onto PCPP (PC Powerplay) in Australia about writing something in the mag about saving FL (some of the writers still love FL) but I in no way am getting my hopes up about the SC :'(

... here's an idea.... Bill gates has quit MS and now does alota charity work... methinks any FL modder is either "insane" or well on the way to becoming "insane" so why dont we form a "save the modders" charity and ask for the SC as a "donation" from billy boy ... crazy yes.... but then thats just me..

I've played with these silly things for months... all i got to work "agian" is the shiproll and that cant be used in freeflight ....
silly bits of redundant code are everywere in FL.. what about the "test" missions in m01a.ini ?... i must have spent a good month trying to recode them to work (and contless sacrifices to the DA/MS gods) only to conced defeat when i realised the other half of the code was either missing or "never there"..

They never intended FL to be what it is now.. in fact i belive they never "finished" FL and the main reason were not getting the holy "code" is more a matter of "pride" than licence....
They rushed it... we fixed it... & now they can't look themselves in the mirror anymore and say "i Rock!" ... and were all to blame loooooool

Im gonna "impliment" this into XLR when i get home.. so i'll let u know results after some "testing"... full report in about 48 hours.. ;D

but just even for the idea and for sharing it.... Fox.... you rock!! I've played Flak88 and loved it, pulled out alota hair trying to figure out how this was done.. hehe now its my turn to "play"

once apon a time i was a simple freelancer... and for a time.. it was good...
then i lost my net for 2 years and taught myself how to make my own universe..
now the planets, sun and moon have all allinged to bring me back to the place i call "home".. Freelancer

so i guess you could call me a modder/coder (lol) i would preffer the term "Cromulent Embigening Expert"...

I still like to play FL ... alot!.. and yes... i am trully insane...
