Take it from me... someone who's played with tons of Ships.. and i mean TONS.. lol (i have a problem lol)

Do what YOU want to do!

After so many years.. serioulsy.. who really gives a rats about "what isn't freelancer".. if you want stock Freelancer ships well.. dont add any (lmao).. there's already an overflow of Freelancer type models avalible anyway.. Bane, Sizer.. just to name a few of our better (fit's straight in.. no need to even think who may get that ship) modelers.. then there's other fine works like Sols ships.. wich are slowly becoming the new Norm for alot of us old timers (omg.. yep.. i suppose i am now)

My point being... Make that mesh for you.. how you want it, if YOU feel it isn't Freelancer enough well that's sweet but if some random on a forum tells you... trust me.. Ignore that, go with your gut.

Oh and.. hehe (i did say i have a problem).. when your done with that dark red one... can i maybe give it a go at making a retexture'd version?? thats a nice mesh, dam nice

That's a great idea LS

I'm thinking i'll run it on my spare PC.. just sitting there.. being a world for a few weeks lol.. i'll look at what available code on my main PC and also look at trying to convert some ships for you

once i get my head out of modding X2.. i recon im gonna be able to mod almost anything now, something i'd like to give back m8

I'll talk to ya latter's closer to release.

I've converted models from Wings3D into a ms3d format.. cant remember which format i used.. it was years ago but i know it can be done It wasn't too easy however but i think that was more to do with the mesh i was working on and a few bad polys.

That looks nice by the way

Oh and a message for those in posestion of something awesome we need bumpmaps.. stat I've just been playing with X2's ships and wow.. bumpmaps man.. so very groovy so very simple yet wow... yeah.. we need them.. so we can evolve

Hehe.. my conditioning and programing (after way too many years of doing this) Forbids me to tinker inside someone else's shiny box...(anymore) amalgamation is my only loophole in this program... see what years of modding this game does to you...

Im just happy it exists personally.. and that your making awesome progress with stuff im yet to learn (exiting.. trully, something to look forward to nailing down)

I come across as a bit grumpy on the subject (lol) sorry my passion for updating FL sometimes overrides my civility sub-routine... somethin like that..

Don't hold your breath.. we may see it before 2013.. we may not? Mainposts are all about FW (understandable) with next to no info on when a pack for modders is coming.

Not very encouraging for anyone wishing to test it with thier own works.. but at least it exists

This is a great idea!

It's hard for us modders to write in easy speak (lol) whilst some awesome tut's exist, some are complicated others outdated in some way (remember.. we've all learned things the past few years in regards to why certain parameters and other things exist that back in the day nobody knew)

And we have WAY better tools now. the tools referenced in most old tut's are pretty old now (if not bug causing or obsolete)

I took a look at the 1st version really nice.

I'm going to wait for your .dds version and if possible with the mips sorted, it's a verry big in size

I love it though, thanks for letting folks freely use it, credits as always

Not a MMO.. but a early scaled down MMO / Space / RPG with persistent world stuff.. really RPG heavy though.. at least that was the original design intention was (as far as i have read in the past)..

I know it's been stated before.. as that was the catalyst (finding that out) that drove me into modding InSaNiTy.. hehe

This topic always seems to come back around don't it?

Here's my 2 cents..

I love Freelancer, but i HATE the engine behind it, I know that sounds strange from someone that just loves to push it to its limits but that's the reason i do, and why I went the path of adding almost every "extra" engine addition made by adoxa to try and turn it into what it could have been if certain production schedules hadn't been rushed. Freelancer 2's engine i fear (total speculation) would have been even more restrictive, as far as the test vids go you can see the game was clearly made for Xbox and not PC and even though we would have gotten a Port she'd be locked down tight thanks to our new friend.. in house DLC

Now, im a believer that if we all (somehow) banded together, put aside whatever that bugs you about whoever else, We'd probably be able to make one hell of a space sim.. but it wouldn't be Freelancer, even if that was our goal. Each game becomes "itself" during the dev process, takes on a soul (or lack of..) from the energy of both the developers and voice/caption artists. Freelancer is unique, because of it's soul, and the love we all over time have given that soul.. turned it into our visions of Galaxy's.. Alien Races.. Arm's wars.. you name it.. one of us has at least tried it. and as long as at least one of us is still nurturing that soul it therefore exists and replication is superfluous ~ Heavy :-p

No idea.. i've fished for info on this but came up pretty empty my guess is there busy as all hell right now.. and im just gonna see what comes on the 15th.

Would however be nice to know whats ahead moding wise so i could get a serious head start on whatever it is that i'll be doing for the next few months.. yeah.. that statements just about as vague as any info on it.. lol still.. i understand why the secrecy is needed, and me respects that, its just frustrating having so much on hold, that may or may not need be on hold.. etc, etc

All the best to em.. it's all good as long as i don't look at Freelancer at the moment, hehe, but that's just me.. i work like that and hate having to do anything twice lol

Market rep stuff is a little more advanced.. there's no generic tweak for that its base by base and gun for gun.. so you'd need alter tons of data for every base and gun. but its all in the one file though and easy enough.

you need to alter

DATA/EQUIPMENT/market_misc.ini

first up is Bretonia- New london base

base = Br01_01_base
MarketGood = br_gun01_mark01, 6, 0.2, 10, 50, 0, 1

etc..

that's your gun.. there my params at the end there yours will look different.. but you only need to alter the 1st & 2nd after the gun like so

MarketGood = br_gun01_mark01, 0, -1, 10, 50, 0, 1

by making my 6, 0.2, into 0, -1, i can now buy this gun at level 0 even if i have a bad (negative) reputation with that bases faction.

now u need to find/learn what the base names and gun names are in code and its all easy after that
