I've been meaning to ask for a while, and the A.S. topic (and reading the history again) has finally prompted me to do so. Any idea what fc means for the criminal factions? I think of it as faction criminal, but that doesn't seem to fit with the others (edit: maybe it's fugitive/criminal). Anyway, here's the list of factions (even if most should be reasonably obvious, at least for English speakers), perhaps other types will come later...

br - Bretonia
co - Corporation
fc - Fugitive/Criminal?
gd - Guild
ku - Kusari
li - Liberty
rh - Rheinland

alg - ALG Waste Disposal
b - Bundschuh
bd - Blood (Black) Dragons
be - Border World Exports (aka Bowex)
bh - Bounty Hunters
c - Corsairs
f - Fugitive
fa - Farmers Alliance
g - Gaians
gc - Golden Chrysanthemums
gm - Gas Miners Guild
h - Hogosha
hsp - Cryer (Hauser-Scott Bio-) Pharmaceuticals
ic - Interspace Commerce
im - Independent Miners Guild
j - Junkers
khc - Daumann (Kruger) Heavy Construction
kn - Kusari (Nomad) Naval Forces
kt - Kishiro Technologies
lh - Lane Hackers
ln - Liberty (Nomad) Navy
lr - Liberty Rogues
lsf - Liberty Security Force
lwb - LWB (Landwirtrechtbewegung)
m - BMM (Bretonia Mining and Metal)
m - Kruger Minerals
m - Mollys
me - Deep Space (Monumental) Engineering
n - Bretonia Armed Forces (aka navy)
n - Kusari Naval Forces
n - Liberty Navy
n - Nomads
n - Rheinland Military (aka navy)
ni - Synth Foods (NutraForm), Inc.
nws - Gateway (New World?) Shipping
or - The Order
os - Orbital Spa and Cruise Lines
ou - Outcasts
ouk - (Outcast) Kress' Men
p - Police (named for each house)
q - Quintaine's Men
rh - Red Hessians
rn - Rheinland (Nomad) Military
rs - Republican Shipping
shi - Samura (Heavy) Industries
ss - Universal (Sirius) Shipping
ti - Planetform (Terraform), Inc.
u - Unioners
uk - Unknown?
vr - Ageira Technologies (Valhalla Research)
x - Xenos
z - Zoners

grp - Group

Blood Dragons was Black Dragons.
Terraform, Inc. is correct.
About Daumann, I would also go with the speculation for Krüger.
For Gateway I just could speculate for New Gate Shipping or something like that. New Galaxy Shipping?
fc_uk_grp - I would say it means just "Unknown".

For ALG I just used Google and found "Abfall Logistik Gesellschaft". While this is a real existing company, the name (Waste Logistics Company) might fit very good. Maybe the writers had the idea of saying ALG is one of those names where everyone already forgot about what it stands for, just calling it ALG now (since it is one of the oldest Rheinland companies).

@Skotty: went with all that, but it's nw, not ng, which gave me the idea for New World. (BTW, all the English text has Kruger, does German have Krüger? Actually, I have the German text, let's see...why, yes it does, how about that.)

@corpse: Interesting (well, not really), the planets are uk but the NPCs are or.

Conform this.

I think `uk` is just some random / testing faction, they (Game maker) too lazy to delete it, instead, they gives a planet to them and make it a surprise.

And the `fc` thing. Is `famous criminal` or `factional criminals` valid in English?

Or may be `fc` is just a short for f_c_.

uk is used in a few of the story missions, too.

Yeah, I initially thought of it as "faction criminal", but I've now changed to "fugitive/criminal".

Good idea... but not that I can see (e.g. fc_uk_grp only exists in initialworld and faction_prop, but the names are still empty, except for Lt.).
