Hi,

Would love to find a server to play on... Maybe make some new friends.

All help is appreciated.

Hey there!
Welcome to the 'port!

If you look to your left there's a link to the Servers and the mods they require (if any). I dunno how up to date it is, but if you check it with the server stats list (link under the Starport Logo) you can surely tell.

Just keep in mind, the amount of players on a server doesn't necessarily dictate the quality of the mod. You'll quickly find out that Discovery servers have the most players, and while you might find Disco to be the best choice for you in the end, I do advise you to shop around!

You might find a home on some of the other great servers!

Good luck, and I hope to see you booting around here still after you find a place to settle down.

Then first do some missions. Buy a new ship, I advise getting the patriot if you are good a flighting, if you aren't, take the defender, can be bought from the battleship station.

Also, do not forget to upgrade your weapons and your shield as well.

To get online, you need the GLS workaround: www.flserver.de

I guess you need to learn some fast docking

You can fly almost into the rings before hitting dock... and you can fly at cruise (target the trade lane rings first) and hit dock just as you are about to get into the ring.

Same for the trade gates... unless some ships are trying to dock. At that point, keep in free flight (don't sit waiting) and keep moving

Once you exit a jump dock - already be hitting your thruster key to get moving, as some will be sat waiting and shooting you If you use engine kill you can use thrusters for a second to get you moving, and then just keep tapping every few seconds to keep speed up That way you don't run out.

Good trade routes - is it optical chips from Texas to California? I struggle to remember these days Or in New York system - is it the planet to the far right (Pitts?) with small arms or something to the station that's to the left of Planet Manhatten? (can't remember the name - down a trade lane to an outpost station, not Newark which is outside Manhatten).

Detroit and Pittsburgh.

Hi m8 and welcome to the Starport.

You should definitely try multiplayer, I remember that it revealed a whole new Freelancer world to me when I tried it first.
There are lots and lots of modded and unmodded servers around. But I can only second the advise as stated before, have a good look around all those mods and try to get a bit acquainted with how things work there before you commit to one of them. There's lots of people around who could give you a lot of info about them.
