That guy "borrowed" from pretty much from every other mod in the past.

But, how MS react to it might shed some light on if they still care about this game enough to slam em down.

Dunno, they seemed okay with it. Sounds have already been replaced, and you can't copyright UI position, nor do they have any outstanding patents on the tech. Not like that matters anyway, since you can rearrange and customize the UI's placement and color making positions a moot point.
