It's been over a month now that the Battlestar Galactica Mod has made it's last FTL jump. No warnings on the forum. Another great mod gone. Shame it's not possible to run it as a Lan server. At least then it would live on on my hard drive for me to enjoy whenever I like.

I was informed that it would go at that time. Though I thought it would be announced more broadly. Anyway, not sure if Venom is still around here (he sort of left the Freelancer scene altogether), but I could try and contact him if he could upload the server files somewhere. I doubt same would be possible with Aigle about the BSG Exodus mod (which by its contents is superior when it comes to system layout, sound balance and meshes), but since he left, too, I suppose there might be a chance.

If he would upload the files, that would be great. If need be, I would even sign something to say that the files will only be used for privat Lan server. It would be great if you could contact him if you don't mind.

I'm spending a lot of time travelling on business and to have the BSG mod to play while travelling or hanging around in a hotel would make it more enjoyable

I know there are a few other Open SP mods out there, but they don't offer the BSG world I love so much.

I was kinda looking forward to Aigle's version, but it never came about, which is also a shame.

Actually, BSG Exodus was released and had a server back then even more popular than Dawn of War by Venom. Many Exodus players came back to Dawn of War (later Edge of Apocalypse) just because Exodus went down. Crossroads was cancelled because NBC/Universal started banning BSG mods altogether (read full article here; and that despite Bigpoint's game contains ripped-down models from authors of one of the major BSG mods) and they had a slow progress anyway. Not to mention that their ambitions of inputting tan.j's models were remarkably high and took more time and effort than the team had motivation to spend.
Venom said, that the strike by NBC was one of his reasons to leave Freelancer as well. He also said that there were fewer and fewer players to work for and named some rather personal reasons. He expressed a generally weak motivation for further action around the game. What Aigle is up to now I am not sure. I assume, too, that those mostly would be real life matters such as education.
Diaspora for Freespace 2 is currently the closest active BSG game you'd find and it just released a little while back. Anyway, I've contacted both Venom and Aigle so we'll see what we can get . Both have accounts here so they could (however unlikely) respond before responding to my respective messages.

Hi Acid, I got the last version of the mod, but haven't got the link of your forge site on this laptop. I'm in Germany on business and use my company laptop. The forge link is on my private one.

I thought you need the server files for the npc encounters and paths? I got hook on my laptop here, but not the plugins for the ftl for example. But I give it a try anyway. Thanks.

Hi Venom, I hope you keeping well. It's a shame that the server finished, but seeing that at most there was apart from myself only Stumpy, Wilko, Lolo and sometimes Scati there, I can see why.
Still, of all the mods, BSG-Galactica was always my favourite. I just got my 16 year old daughter interested in Freelancer and she did try BSG and loved it. Unfortunately I couldn't go the way to Earth with her because the server went down.
Hence the reason I like to play it over Lan. Also to play it when I'm away on business.

@Gisteron, I tried BSG online and lasted for about an hour before I gave up. Needless to say that I didn't really like it
Didn't NBS recently changed it's mind about the BSG rights? I remember reading something about it, but not where that was.

I got Diaspora but it's also not really my cup of tea, even though it's very well made.

Ok, I got BSG running as a Lan Server and also using flhook 1.6.7 by Kosacid. However, I can't get the ftl to work.
I also get errors when trying to make myself admin.

Exception in HkIServerImpl::Login
Code=c0000005 Offset=66370 Module="Server.dll"

Any ideas?
@Venom, you wouldn't be able to send me the flhook files by any chance?

Thanks

You are perhaps missing the right server.dll (unless the latest mod version provides one?). Since Acid and Venom are on this thread I guess you're gonna resolve that. =)

Anyway, Aigle responded very enthusiastically and is willing to discuss release conditions of a server and client complete package of BSG Exodus, too. If anyone has requests regarding certain details of that as well, I'd gladly represent interests of any community member beside my own; thus feel free to make me know

I'm sure Venom and Acid are able to help. Feels good to hunt toasters again

I'm interested in giving Aigle's version a try. I would only use it on private Lan and never host an Internet server. I haven't got the hardware for that anyway.

Ok, flhook is running now as it should. It was the server.dll. I just changed it with one from another mod and all is fine now.

Hi all,

Just a quick question. Venom removed the ship banking when turning and also removed auto level to keep it more in line with the BSG Univese, but I like to add these again but haven't got a clue how. Any tips, hints would be very welcome.

you might want to inform yourself on hex editing and then have a look at the limit breaking list on our wiki.

Thanks Gisteron, I think I found where to change it now, thanks to you. Looks like the settings are in Freelancer.exe and common.dll. Which Hex editor would you recommend to use?

Edit: Never mind. Found Hexplorer and used that to change the values.
