Project UberLancer

Project UberLancer: It's time to get Sirius.

I would like to introduce the initiation of a new modification for Freelancer called (project name) Project UberLancer. Project UberLancer will be a community wide collaboration to create a new modification that will take the story of Edison Trent and Co. to the next chapter in the Freelancer saga. While the project is barely even a concept right now, the intent will eventually be for the single player story to continue the adventures of Trent. This mod will be unique because it will eventually serve as a sequel to vanilla Freelancer, possibly even billed as Freelancer 2.[br /]

I would like to invite the Freelancer community to join us at www.UberLancer.com to enter the discussion of what we'd like this mod to be and what should be in it. This is not a "server" project, but a Freelancer community project. Everyone's suggestions, opinions, and especially modding skills are very much welcome.

Stupid Question: Does anyone know what happened to Openlancer and/or how far they made it? Unfortunaly the project seems to be dead...

You might get more support from other communities if you didnt have a server that will obviously compete for players.
Whilst I wish you luck with your project, I find it difficult to support as your another server with a mod and great plans...in simple terms.
If your going to be the next best thing and want help from the community you really need to change the idea/concept that you attract players from other servers to your mod under the premise that your totally different.
Like I said, good luck, but I have come accross so many different DEV/CODING/ALL NEW etc etc sites and all they seem to do is offer another FL server..."for the time being, until our mod is stable".

Using the google ads was an interesting move.

I'm Blackhole's words to me. The Openlancer team lost sight of BH's overall scheme for Openlancer.

It's changed so many times since I and BH first started that I'm not too surprised it crashed at the end. It's still sad, because it had potential in being opensource, but not enough experienced programmers made it through.

There really are a lot of people that would like to see a true second ver.( thats not a mod that could be load as a disk, made into an iso, ect. (played across many platforms) It's a brillaint idea,Have played the mods to death, lot of good people, that made them, thousands of good ideas, considering the game was left open, for a second ver.

The story line proves it, would my self like to see the rest of sirius opened up,for sp,op, multiplayer, but you need to brouch the subject on many of the forums.Im sure at Lancers Reactor and many of the forums you can find hard coders and many old timers like myself that would like to help or have the ideas'even some of the old dev's are still out there, that still play the game,

Note i read that it's slowly dieing but from the hundreds of sites i've explored, and am a member of many of them, that's just simply not true, people tire of it but come back to it to,many just to see what's been developed,Just look at all the servors that weren't out there, before MS took their sever down and look at the following that has sprung up.

free Lancer is really just in an infantancy, were many games have died out, would like to see a true second ver, that can caputer the true flavor of the game and the excitment, and exploration that the original game has that brought so many good people together,to play online and offline, i beleive if the original game had sequeled it would have kept on like c&c and a few other games had, and i also believe it still can,

to the people that beleive this game is dieing out, i believe you are wrong,as some tire and come back you see a new influx of ideas and people in this game,And mods one of the things that this game needed was true joystick.

MicroSoft (there i said the word )fouled up as they usely do,in not carrying through,it wasn't the game MS wanted, when they bought the game and rights it was the programers that built the game, and the game was just a + to their bottom line,

YES this is a good idea, to bring out a sequel to the game, one of the things i see is that coders and people in development projects fall out when they path that they agreed apon is changed drasticaly from what they agreeded to do, and real life can get in the way to,it's hard to work RL and come into this unless it's something you love to do,so Kudo's to all the modders out there around the world.(one of the things this Game needs is a better Graphics Engine to bring it up todate with the cards and direct X,And screen resoultions that is out there now) Have checked out his site ,looks like he needs some help

Any volunteers

(Darn did i say that ,my mind must have slipped out of gear again)
