If only it wasn't just DX9.

I think it's main purpose is to get devs porting steams back catalogue of older dx9c games to the steam OS, I haven't a clue about how it works or if it may or may not be useful to anyone else.

I'm pretty sure that's the point, yes, but I have my doubts as to how many devs with DX9 games will actually take the time to port them. Chances are the games are old, aren't selling much at all and would take a significant time and money investment to backport.

I like the idea and I think it still beats the usual attitude of Linux fanboys (which is more along the lines of whining that devs are ignoring the platform, all while shunning binary drivers and then complaining games don't run well on the crippled open drivers, but I digress), but I really don't see SteamOS catching on until there's a monetary gain to be made there, which right now there plain and simply isn't.

My feeling is that Steam OS and Mantle are just half arsed semi pointless attempts at best, and the only thing either one will likely achieve is to get microsoft off their lazy behinds to improve windows and DirectX for the better of PC gaming. It seems to be working so far doesn't it

Linux can continue to suck donkey balls forever as far as I care, no disrespect to the people who do like it, but it's not my cup of tea. I like a windows PC, it just works.

P.s - you TOW guys have been far too quiet lately, did see the TGN vid, maybe it was me, but it didn't appear to do your technical achievements justice considering how long it was. Must be the stage you're at, but you've got a much longer list of shiny things than was on show.

FYI, what you have said is considered very disrespectful. I suggest you don't post it again, please read TSP rules.

You know what Alex, this is only the second time we've crossed paths, and on both occasions it's been you having a pop at me for having a bit of harmless fun. You probably figured after the last time that I'm not going to change who I am just because you have some problem with it, I'm too old, so if you don't want me around here, just do what you gotta do, it's all good.
