DISCOVERY 4.85 HD HYBRID PACK
Make sure Discovery is not running when adding folders and files. Make sure you have version 4.85 discovery mod. Place this folder in your FLMM mod folder "MAKE SURE THIS FOLDER NAME MATCHES YOURS", also make sure to over-write files and folders when asked. Once files are finished copying, activate Discovery mod, and enjoy Discovery at it's finest. ******* ALL CREDITS GO TO DISCOVERY MOD TEAM FOR THE DISCOVERY 4.85 MOD, AND CROSSFIRE 1.82 FOR ALL FREELANCER/DISCOVERY VANILLA STARSPHERES, PLANETS, DOCKABLES, AND ASTEROIDS. ALL SYSTEMS AMBIENCE HAS BEEN IMPROVED TO GIVE BETTER SHADOW EFFECTS. NOTHING WAS ALTERED IN DISCOVERY MOD, ONLY ENHANCED. HD HYBRID PACK BY: Trichomes I have included Discovery 4.85 mod, HD texture/model pack, FLmod manager 1.3 and freelancer 1.1 patch. If you already have Discovery 4.85 installed, make sure it's not activated, then replace folders/files in mod manager folder with HD folder, make sure folder names match. If you don't have mod manager installed, but do have freelancer installed, and received your id number for multiplayer, just install discovery 4.85, activate it, then de-activate it, copy HD folder/files to mod manager directy that contains mods. If you're installing freelancer for the first time, make sure you start a multiplayer game to get your ID first. then install mod manager, discovery mod, activate then de-activate, then copy HD folder/files to mod manager directory. And again... It would have been great if I were asked before you use my work. You never had the permission to use stuff from my mod. I want that you remove it!
Is it meanwhile normal that discovery people steal from other mods? Hell if you want to see stuff from other mods then play these mods, instead of ripping parts out of them and releasing these parts without permission. People invest alot of time and work to make their mods unique and special.

I knew even after 2 years someone from crossfire would still QQ about this, hence, why I never released it...I gave credits all over the place to both mod teams, I have tried reaching out 2 years ago, but never received a response from crossfire team for permission. For you to say discovery people steal, please....it's a mod. I would have loved to play crossfire, but it seems your team feels they made this game and own the rights to it, there is no lan play, that's all I play with with the wife and friends, hence, why I don't play the crossfire mod to begin with. Your graphics are nice, but you didn't make them from scratch, they are freelancer backgrounds with higher resolution. Everything else in this pack I editited and tweaked myself. So, you see, I can't play crossfire on lan, that's why 2 years ago, I decided to use crossfire vanilla freelancer graphics and merge them into discovery. And this was never shared or hosted or anything. It was for me, and me only. I only decided to share it finally since both MOD teams are on later versions, and didn't think heads would cry about it.....but whatever, keep your mod, I really don't care, but don't tell someone to play it, when it's only client side, and you can't play lan like I would like to, cause you think your source is so precious. It's all about Chris Roberts right now anyway..........later and sorry for the stress I caused anyone, I meant no harm.

I look at the top of the page and see "There are currently 198 users playing Freelancer on 86 servers" and I can't help but think, who gives a s h i t who does what anymore. Looking on the bright side of it, someone using your work in their own mod and crediting you is probably about the biggest compliment you can get right now, and it's certainly not going to cost you any players is it lol! About the only thing denying people the opportunity to use another mods work accomplishes these days is to deny the single player fan the chance to try another mod. Freelancers negativity has just about finally done me in I think.

1. I did not receive any permission request from you (not via mail, not via forum, not via moddb). My contact info is well known and did not change. If you can tell me when exactly you asked I can take a 2nd look as I store every message that I receive.
2. We do not disallow the use of Lan play. It is just much more difficult to set it up due to the fact that Crossfire is a dynamic mod which needs to be synchronized. 3. The graphics are not just improved vanilla versions. I just want my work being removed. Its the 3rd time in just a few months that my work was ripped (by discovery players) so please excuse that I show 0 tolerance. It is not that I dont share my work, my name can be found in more than enough mods. Even my graphical work is being shared with other mods (best example for that are gibbons mods). But I decide who gets the permission to use my stuff. @Timmy If every Discovery player can get the unique stuff that other mods have... why should they play these other mods? What you suggest is the death to every small server that does not have +100 players already. They loose what makes them special. The modding teams work their arse off to create something that is good enough to attract new players and compete with the large servers. The keyword is "diversity" and that is a damn good thing. And the only thing that I truely consider a compliment are the players which enjoy my work in a respectful way... not by ripping/stealing it.

It's cool OP, I already know why you guys don't share your resources, it's been said more than enough times in more than enough places. I just don't give a s h i t anymore, can't see the point when realisticly so few people are going to be affected.
Might as well just dump everything from all mods in a big pile of resources and let people do what the hell they like, rather than take all the good stuff to the grave. It's obvious that everyone is already using it all anyway, removing download links doesn't change anything.

The thing is what does it cost to ask for permission in advance? N o t h i n g than just a simple question...
What you suggest is truely the current behaviour of the entire net communities. Why in gods name to care about something - like copyrights...? It really doesnt matter how many people are affected, it affects - and that matters. Its nearly always the same - we people on SWAT are the evil, because we take care of our work. You can tell or write what you want but thats what i really dont get. Taking your ideas to the real world i could rob a shop and it really nothing to care about because there are just a few people affected?! Same for speed limits? That just dont work. And i mean its the prinicipals - here for a game or there in the real world...

Honestly, I think the problem here isn't so much about taking as it is about asking. Most people won't have an issue with you reusing their work provided you ask beforehand.
It's not hard, it doesn't hurt, and it smooths everything out just fine.
