We already have projects like Kinetic Void that are promising great things for space sims in general (provided they pan out, obviously).

What we do not however have is a multiplayer space sim that's not EVE. This is why I hope it's multiplayer in one form or another, preferrably following the FL model so that we don't end up with another Black Prophecy (which is closing down this month, a year and a half after release).

@ Mini_Me good to see your Nomad Hive ships I worked on a mod that used them a while back and they looked great!

This Chris Roberts fella really has injected a lot of enthusiasm back into FL and space sims, over 8000 replies in the poll and over 2000 posts in four days!

Great to see it!

Financial problems. I'm guessing they didn't get enough people playing for their freemium model to pan out. Bit of a shame, but the little I tried of it was so derivative, boring and laggy that I'm not terribly surprised.

As i see from rumors they used IP Block at the servers
Think is it normal to block half of the planet of players?

Well, it certainly did rather stop me from ever considering paying them, since I couldn't play it at all due to said IP block.

Wait, what? They have been retarded enough to block certain IP areas totally out of their game, meaning from all servers? Like a bauss.

Tards.

They probably thought it'd help alleviate lag issues. After all, if lag is bad, and players have high pings to the servers, then why play.

May as well cut them out to minimise lag to those who have good pings and may therefore stay.

And upgrading the hardware apparently never crossed their minds.

I think they might just not have had the budget to upgrade the hardware.

Running an MMO is rather expensive.

Sweet. Even the bible says I am the big last boss of the universe.

I you guys want a game that more resembles Freelancer you gotta be more vocal. The "wing-nuts" are a very vocal group and upon inspection of the forums... it shows.
