This is from the Tekagis Treasure forums

To the Tekagis Treasure Community
To the Admins and Helper's
To the Family's
To the Friends

and to YOU the players.

The Tekagis server will be closing as of this message being posted, the forum will remain open for the time being so people can still get in contact with each other and Teamspeak will still run as well.

Myself, Cursor and the rest of the fantastic team that kept it going for so long after our dear friend passed, Uni, we have come to a point in our lives where 'Real Life' has taken a front seat and everything else has become secondary. We have always said in the admin room, RL comes first.

I would like to thank three very important people:

Ringy, mate you were like a whirlwind when in game and a force to be reckoned with in Admin chat and on the forum's, and for that I am very great full.

Jaco, thank you for all your help with giving me information from before I started on TT, your input from the beginning has made a difference. Also for being there in RL, for me and for others.

Madcat, Cat you are one crazy SOB, most people at your young age **Cough**, should be in the garden in summer and tucked up in front of the TV on a cold evening....... NO, not Cat, day in, day out, nearly 365 days a year he has been in game and on the forum, giving help, tormenting the players and admins and his famous "BAN!! Goodbye", has put joy in our hearts, Madcat THANKYOU!

There are others like McKooter and Qjake, again with out their help and input, things would have been different.

To everybody, do keep in touch, either forums, TS or Skype.

Fair well fellow Freelancers

Sad news, fellas. Best of luck with all your future endevaours and I hope, maybe with the release of the DX9 upgrade to the TSP community, you may be able to revive this great server.

The fall of a great. I hope everyone stays in the FL community.

In all honesty I believe the remnants of once large servers and some other independent servers should attempt a merge. At least get a number of players together. You know, united we stand etc.

Should be done anyway with a general population of 200-400 players, a good degree of which are most likely modders.

You'll always have issues with people who won't play certain types of mods or play on certain servers, that will never change. Just look at Discovery, i've only ever tried it once and never again after being talked down to and treated like a 2 yr old by the admins there just because i questioned some of the RP elements for new players.

Merging of servers, mods and communities will never happen, it's how it is now and will stay like this until we're all dead or finally move on. There's a few hundred players left, about two dozen modders who actually know what they are doing and that's it. Face it, it's a dead game and we're all holding a candle from the good old days, problem is we're running out of wax.

I know what you are saying, but I think with DX9 we could potentially have a chance at adding a bit more wax to the candle.

I know a merge won't happen I've been around FL long enough (off and on) to know the score - it was just wishful thinking.

I personally had a bad experience with discovery as well, it was pretty much their way or the highway, I don't agree with that in a game that is supposed to be a "do what you want" in an open ended universe.

As for me I tried something to revive this game before, you may or may not have been here when the uberlancer project was around, boy were there some debates about that!

But, I'm going to try something again because I pretty much think this will be the last effort anyone will be able to make as there won't be many players left one or two years down the line.

So this time I am sticking around and returning to modding, something I was fairly decent at back in my day. Lets hope I can pull it off this time

Big bummer news here. Lots of fond memories on this server / mod. Was like a kid in a candy store on my first run through that neat multi-level minefield. The trek to Sol.. Druid system at the end of the other minefield... First encounter with a Phantom >< Beautiful X2 ship imports, the dinky little 2k hull zingers that were such a blast to fly in a dog fight (Harrier & Zephyr). Lots of interesting additions to the game I won't forget any time soon, plus my old buddies from GoM I actually met on Starworlds.

*salute* Thanks Tekagis for an outstanding run and pretty outstanding staff. And another for the departed.

From my point of view, Freelancer is only a dead game because of defeatist people who give up.

I'm not, it's how things are, deluding ourselves otherwise. You only have to look at the GLS stats.

If you like to mod the game just do it, don't worry about how many players are left. So many games out there that it's hardly surprising so few play this one anymore, but don't let it put you off.

I play a stupid amount of games, but i still like to mod fl when it takes my fancy. Been making a mod for years now, probably never finish it, but who cares, it's fun.
