Optional Mod/Admin Mod

Hey guys, this is [Admin]-Raikkonen from the 2 month old server called Omicron 24/7 Dedicated. We are a vannila server, and wish to keep it so that players do not have to install a mod.

I have taken over the main running of the server, ioncross, flhook etc. And was wondering about adding optional ships.

I remember Wireplay UK used to have the admins running around in the Order Ship (elite version of anubis) and FLU has the optional Anubis MK2, Defender Elite, Dragon etc.

I was wondering how this is possible without crashing the game?

I guessed that Wireplay used Ioncross to give the admins the order ship, but when I tried it crashes my game and the server.

Basically I'm just wondering.. How on earth did they do it? And how to optional mods work.

Also I was wondering if there are any free to use optional mods released for server admins?

you can if you want too build yourself a system just for admins and this system will have a base that has these ships in it. also what you can do is make an in game base that is hostile to all players except admins. i think you have to have the anubis load out in your mod or somewhere in your files to use it. because if you dont you crash out your server.

for instance make yourself a mod just for admins in this mod will be your secret jump hole into st01 from Manhattan . theres is nothing there but the order base there you can get the anubis. this wont crash your server. to other players it would look like you disappeared but you will be going into st01 also you can add the special class 10 weapons there also with freelancer explorer. i have done all this already with mods.

It's simple enough to do as long as you do NOT add any ships to the shiparch.ini file. Only modify the existing entries. The reason it works on FLU is that all vanilla players already have those files in their installs. As long as you are flying an or_elite ship, they will call the or_elite cmp and see it properly.

On FLU we've always made it a priority to keep our server compatible with the vanilla player. Even to the point that any added ships are not really stronger or better than the existing vanilla ships. Some will argue that point, but each added ship has strengths and corresponding weaknesses added in to keep things somewhat level. I think the fact that the vast majority of players still fly the vanilla ships confirms that our goal was met.

We tried adding the starblazer to the server but adding the shiparch to the ini caused no end of weird problems so we had to scrap that idea. We also tried adding level 8-10 fighters to Bretonia and Rheinland and were unable to do so for this reason.

So, basically as long as you add the ship (anubis, dragon, juni's defender, king's patriot, etc.) to the goods.ini file and add them to a ship dealer (maximum three ships), you should be gtg to buy and fly them. Unmodded players will see the ships properly without crashing, and modded players will be able to use them without problems.

Really all you need to see how we did it is download the FLUAddon mod from our server (client side version) and dissect it.

I reread the previous posts and sabatino is correct. You could use IONCROSS to put yourself on Planet Toledo and from there purchase the level 6 Anubis. Then launch and log out. Go back into IONCROSS and place yourself back in the vanilla system of your choice. The Anubis will work fine.

That's the ONLY missing ship you can do that with. The others are not available for sale on any base so you'd have to add them to a ship dealer somewhere.

A player who wished to fly them would have to have a mod in order to purchase them but I think if you were to create a template using your magical admin powers you should be able to drop a ship like that into their account. Frankly, using IONCROSS, that would be a pain.

all those loadouts should be in the sdk all you have to do is add the ship loadout to the loadouts ini

Once the admins have approved my uploads (2 of them) you can copy the content from those mods if you like.
2 mods, admin mod and user mod what ran on the Jolt servers the last months of their excistense.

Ohh my rank shows administrator, only cos i once was one here i think. But no rights anymore
