The Gameplay possibilities of the engine are great, taken in account that it is imaging what a space engine is missing - thinking of planetary quests, free movements, vehicles to reach spots, planetary and interplanetary economies bound to human and/or cpu controlled politics. A single solar system or just a planet can catch a player for weeks. After you land on an Asteroid you are walking to a station, buy a miner and start harvesting ore - putting it into a transporter, moving to a planet where you can refine and sell or build things. EVE, Second Life and a 3D shooter alltogether in space...

How do you plan the networking, mmorg, server cluster, single game?

start here: http://www.moddb.com/games/homeworld/ ... eworld-universe-mod-tools

unpack the game files

use the tools to export the models to obj or 3ds

rest is how to import obj or 3ds saved models to fl - see the tutorials here at tsp.

you'll need to use the modded texture upgrades of the HW community to get a fair result - the vanilla textures are, let's say not "up to date". It's a mod - so please be fair and honor their usage restrictions in your project before you will release something.

Now there are only three month left for reaching year two of development and Chapter I of Shadow of Fear is released. The actual version is 2.0 build 8842 RC3.

For getting a short impression you may have a look to this HD video:

Feel welcome to join us in Multiplayer or on our Forum, everything needed is posted on our portal, some links below are leading to different pages.

Have as much fun playing the Mod, as we had while creating it!

The mods packed size is around 1,6 GB, unpacked size is 4,1 GB please be patient while downloading and installing it.

On a sidenote - because we are at TSP here, this is only the first step of SoF we will continue the project, no matter of freelancers future. If anyone is searching for a new, dedicated moddig Project to work on, just contact me here or every Admin at our Forum. It would be also cool to have the Release downloadable from TSP, thanks in advance.

ImO you can not add more than 7 different parts to a sph file (6 sides + atmosphere) - at least i tried it one time but didn't made it yet - maybe someone had more success and can provide a working draft for it, such as a second atmosphere entry.

But you can put a cmp around the sph - with a tranparent layer it should be possible to create for example moving clouds and other stuff.

It would just become a problem of performance imO, allthough it would create cool possibilities.

For the other, all ready cleared question, simply make a complete texture for the whole planet and let the planet tool create the tiles (saying it for those who may search this thread in the future).

if i understand the request right it should be possible in just texturing the tiles the way you want them.

Your above problem is most likely because of setting up the sph, txm and mat file for one, or two instead of six sides (just a guess). Every tile needs it's own node and have to be named in an order such as:

*.sph

sphere
- M0
- <sidename1>
- M1 [...]

*.mat

Material library
- Material count
- <athmosphere>
- <sidename1>
- <sidename2>
- [...]

*.txm

- Exporter Version
- Texture Library
- <sidename1>
- tilefile1.dds
- <sidename2>
- tilefile2.dds

It helps to make a planet with 6 tiles using simple 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 texture tiles so you must not refer to your tiles in Game all day long while making the planets.

First of all, thanks for the link w0dk4!

Second - would you please use our url instead of the disco url? Currently the link is leading to disco

Thanks!

Best would be http://shadowoffear.net because everything will be ported to the url and it is redirecting to the current one - so it will be secure for the future too.

i don't know anything about possible differences between the german and english freelancer.exe versions, sorry.

The picture shows how you need to do it - just in case.
