Found this in their recently posted Q&A Update:

Quote:
Q. The modding goal is at $800K, which is quite far away. Does that mean there will be no modding if you don’t reach it ?

A. The $800K modding goal is for “full” modding, completely changing the gameplay or even making new types of games and total reconversions ( like adding walking on planets/stations ). Even if we don’t reach this goal, there is still going to be partial mod support in the game. Players will be able to customize their own dedicated servers, add or modify ships, weapons, planets / solar system setup, sounds and special effects.. this includes the look but also all the gameplay / balance / physics parameters. The gameplay however will pretty much be set in stone until we get more funding.

PS: Last chance to get in. Kickstarter ends in 17 hours

Yes it is.

And the kickstarter is now in it's final.
2 days 20 hours to go and only 14.000$ missing to hit the goal.

I always do that using the Mod Manager

Did you select the correct directory in the Modmanager?
And in case of Windows 7 ... Did you start the Modmanager as Admin?

We also had crashes caused by missions against nomads on our server.

After a lot of testing we found that:
Missons give you neutrality to nomads that are not part of the mission.
Sitting idle next to a nomad cap spawn (BS, Gunboats and fighters) while being neutral to them caused random crash.

We never solved that problem but my last guess was that the nomads try to hail you when you are neutral to them and i think that triggered the crash.

"the workaround patch"
w0dk4s workaround? I'm not sure it that works with servers too.

Try this one:

ok i have tried the player cleaner on a updated server version with a player file i no was having issues, and the crash still occurred

Delete all visit entrys in that file and try again.
If that solves the problem than you'll know where the problem comes from.
If not you'll know where it doesn't come from

The Ioncross Total War Mod did what you want by scanning the player account files and counting the NPC kills which are saved in there.

- This only works if your factions are using different ships
- You won't be able to track how many players got killed by NPCs (only total death toll)
- If a player deletes his char his kills will be deleted to

Part of freelancers success is that it failed its goals during development.
It was meant to be a MMORPG.
I guess they didn't plan to release the server software - but after microsofts "cut" they had to release what they had.
Thats why we have such a feature rich freelancer AND the ability to mod it.

And thats the reason why nobody released something better yet - its simply to expensiv without adding a monthly fee.

Any Idea where I can find such a tool? I downloaded Duplicate Cleaner and had it check for any files named *.fl. Then had it check for any files with the same name but any extention of a deleted character. Both didn't find any duplicates. Even typed a filename of a deleted character into my windows search box and nothing. But the character is still listed (as Deleted)

If you delete chars DSAM will keep it in its database marked as deleted but i think i never had a "deleted" entry after moving a char.

If you want to get rid of those chars that are marked deleted you'll have to edit the dsam.db with an external database tool.
I think somewhere in the DSAM readme files is a good suggestion for a program that can do that but its a lot easier to simply untick that box for deleted chars in the filter screen
