well Sol, good job as usual. Nice looking model.

one thing i would do, is to add some type of clamps on the top to hold ships or other space objects in place while they are being constructed/repaired so that the object does not 'float' away.

other than that, i like it

For freelancer i usually try to stick to 5000 triangles or less for fighter sized craft.

Capital ships up to about 10000.

try some of these ideas:

run it with administrator privileges
run it in compatibility mod for Win XP or Win Vista
Check your AV to see if it is being falsely accused of being a virus or malware.

have you tried disabling IPV6 protocol? FL does not play well with it.

good luck buying that. I went to MS quite a while ago to buy the FL IP with all source art, tools, engine source and everything. I had the financial backing, everything was in place to properly develop a proper FL 2.

The problem as it turns out , is that yes they still have the source, but it is berried so deep on one of their multitude of servers that they have no F****** clue where it is and could not locate it.

I talked with MS reps, and MS Games reps to get them to try and find it for months, but in the end ... nothing.

An example of real world ship class:

Nimitz Class Super Carrier

Ship Class: Nimitz
Hull Class: Super Carrier

George W Bush Class Super Carrier

Ship Class: George W Bush
Hull Class: Super Carrier

Ship class and Hull Class are/can be two totally different things.

Another example:

Halifax Class Frigate.

Ship Class: Halifax
Hull Class: Frigate

@FF - your comment/suggestion is not mean at mate. I am quite aware that the models you see on our mod site/moddb ect ... are yes better than FL, but a far cry from SC quality. the Hornet for example has over 200,000 triangles. However, what you do see of the ships we have so far are base models. I still have to go back and add a #$%% ton of finite details, as well as working in a proper cockpit interior. Additionally i am not exactly aiming for 200K tri count on these ships. I will be scaling back the tri count to help increase performance just that much more. This will help those that have slightly lower end machines be able to play the mod with good results.

Saying all this though, if you look at the Liberty Gunship model we have in progress, it is not even close to 30% done and has already hit near 500,000 tri's.

As Carni mentioned there is still the damage model for the physics aspect which still as yet has to be looked at, but without further information on how that will really work in SC there is no point addressing it.

@ CK - interesting idea mate, i may give that a go in a trial run.

-----
Over the course of the next several months i will be focusing on getting the base models done. Hopefully by then more details for modders will have been released so we can go back to the base models and start reworking, fine tuning, and adding in more finite details as well as hopefully beginning to address the damage details.

Just so you know,

these fighters. One of them, the first pic you posted, was done originally for the original New Universe Mod that never got completed. When we came to the realization that the mod was not gonna get completed the ship was moved to another mod we were running and continually updating called: Level 2. Where me and Kleotal created a Merc Guild faction gave them a starbase called Outreach, and Kleotal completed the ship line with an additional 4 fighters.

As you can see, Level 2 has long since ceased, but i still do have it on my HDD with the rest of the ship line. If your interested in having them all.

Cheers

That model was originally created by a old FL modder Kleotal. It was originally done for 2 mods that were being developed by Frost Works.

If you are asking for permissions to use it i can give that to you for this model.

So long as credits are given to the original author. If not looking to use it what do you need to know?
