is it possible to in some way progam, hack or otherwise change -per ship- the minimum speed that ship is allowed to fly at?

id like some of my ships to never be able to stop moving forwards, since it would look ridiculous to have a plane stop at 0 in mid air without stalling and falling down.

and if not possible to make certain ships have a minimum speed is it possible to make a deterrent to this, by quickly removing health points to any specified ship that is not allowed to move below a certain speed?

Well from a hooking standpoint I know how to do it, but I don't have the time for it. You could even make your plane crash if the speed is too low.

So yes, it is possible, but you would find someone who is willing to do it. Adoxa has no internet right now, I guess else he would have done it.

If you give the ship a large mass it takes a long time to get going and stop.
Of course, this sort of alters the gameplay a fair bit, so it's probably not a good fix for you.
It's an idea, though.

just wanna point out this is a game that takes place in space... where there is no air to push through jets and no gravity to make a "stalled" "plane" fall.. with reverse thrust, a vessel can actually float in space just like some satellites could.

As far as the issue, try adjusting linear_drag for the particular ship within the shiparch.ini? I'd guess the lower the drag, the more difficult it would be to "stop" the ship?

Zero linear drag means no slow down whatsoever, but the impact of this kind of change is far more profound than just putting a minimum speed limit.
