My name's Loz. I bought Freelancer back in '02 or so. Loved the game. Still love it.

Just recently my main gaming PC has been out of action and I fired up Freelancer again on my laptop. The graphics are pretty awful, but the atmosphere is still as amazing as I remember. The music, the comms chatter, the giant dust clouds and nebulae, the hidden wrecks. Incredible! Why hasn't there been a sequel?

Also, be sure to watch for Freeworlds: Tides of War mod, coming in december. Just at the frontpage of starport you can see some news about them, screenshots and ingame videos.

Uh, and you just can't join MP servers without a patch.

Hey there! Hello from one old-timer to another

You can get some pretty seriously kick-butt effects even with just the DX8 Freelancer; just be sure to install the latest DX9 from Microsoft, and then crank up ALL the settings on your graphics card.

It's kinda funny when you max it all out on your card and then you still need to manually push the GPU to full speed
