Information

Cambridge is the breadbasket of Bretonia and one of the most pristine planets within the colonies. Home of the most prestigious university in the Sirius Sector, Cambridge's population consists chiefly of academics and farmers. To protect their common interests, they have restricted industrial development on the planet, hoping to avoid the environmental disasters that befell Leeds and New London. Cambridge supports one of Bretonia's two terrorist groups, the Gaians. Although they are based in the distant system of Edinburgh, most of their recruits and financial supporters are from the University of Cambridge.

The Independent Miners Guild's home base of Cardiff is located in the northern area of the system, near the richest Beryllium deposits discovered to date within the Sirius Sector. The Guild is mostly comprised of disenchanted Bretonian miners from BMM operations throughout Bretonia, although it also has embraced the former Rheinland miners in the Omega Border Worlds that lie between the two colonies.

The eastern end of the system is dominated by the thick ice crystal clouds of the Barrier, which provide ample cover for Corsairs, the merciless pirates that plague the Omega Border Worlds. The battleship Norfolk has been strategically placed astride the key Omega World Trade Lanes bound for Rheinland, but has been unable to slow the Corsairs' rapid expansion into the heartland of Bretonia. A series of early warning satellites and weapons platforms called the "Cambridge Line" was hastily assembled along the eastern Trade Lane, but it has proven largely ineffective in protecting the southern part of the system from the Corsair scourge.
