Arena Commander (Dogfighting Module) released Star Citizen News

After many delays, finally the dogfighting module called "Arena Commander" for Star Citizen has been released.

The multiplayer part of the module will be rolled out based on your citizen number, so if you backed Star Citizen early, the higher are your chances to get in.



Also interesting is the Freelancer-style mouse aiming, where weapons follow your mouse cursor.
If you turn "Coupling" off (Caps Lock button), you will get something similar to "engine kill" in Freelancer, though it is more of a "lock velocity vector" right now.

I think the majority here follows the development of Star Citizen very closely, but I just wanted to highlight the latest developments so nobody misses out.

The crowdfunding campaign has reached more than 23 Million US Dollars - which means that the game is fully funded by the community.
They also released a new website and since August, the Hangar Module is available for download. In the hangar you can take a look at your purchased ships.

Star Citizen, the crowdfunding space-sim project by Chris Roberts (creator of Freelancer and Wing Commander), has been successfully funded.

Also, the project established a new crowdfunding record for video game projects with nearly 7 Million Dollars!

The team about Roberts has been very active in communicating with the community during the campaign, giving information about the game mechanics as well as showing off - surely a factor for breaking the crowdfunding record. But they also promised in their pledge statement to keep the updates coming.

One of the most interesting piece of information regarding Freelancer:

A central server system for the persistent universe will be required to assure security, prevent cheating and other bad behavior. We also plan to provide a version that allows private servers similar to Freelancer to be maintained and run by the pilot communities. These would support single and multiplayer space combat battles where teams could hone their skills without having to use the public servers.
