Hello all,
I am new to The Starport. I came to see news on servers hosted and to ask a few questions. I have had Freelancer since it came out, played through the campaign a few years back and put it away. Well, I have pulled it out of the mothballs and am starting through the campaign again. It has very much revitalized my interest in the game, and now I am looking to do more online play and mod it. I was hoping someone might also help me out with hosting my own server. If anyone has the time to help me with that please post a reply. I am new to dealing with the list server stuff so I am afraid I will need a bit of a walkthrough. Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Server Admins. It's a real pulling out your hair (um) rewarding experience.

Actually, it can be very frustraitng setting up a server if you don't know your way around. (raises hand). But once it goes online, it is worth all the hard work.

Actually, setting up a server can be easy or difficult. If you want a plain jane server it's fairly easy. If you're like me and most of the others, you want all the bells and whistles. That's where the fun comes in.

Took me about a month and a half to set up a discovery server the way I wanted it and then here comes the 4.86 update. Fortunately I had almost all of the work done and just had to port the old files to the new.
