Since I know alotta people hate the way textures distort when trying to make a nice planet texture.... have a looky at this plug-in. Works for Max 5.x-8.x 2008, and 2009.



I know there's a Photoshop plug-in out there doing the same, I'll dig around for the link

Oh this is a great find...

Not much of a model or texture master here so such plugin is very handy for a person like me!

Please link if you find a PS plugin... Din't find anything on google... Probably wrong key words

I tired this plugin a while back and it wasn't very good. You still need to use Photoshop to fix the texture. But if anyone else can get it to work i wouldn't mind knowing how.
