I'm planning to make an alternate font for Freelancer. This has basically the following reason.
Agency FB has an excellent property as in it is very narrow to push a lot of text into a small box. However, the numbers of Agency FB by far don't have the same spacing. This causes changing numbers to jump back and forth 80 times a second, which annoys me.

But before I start, does anyone have experience with font editors? Which one should I use?

EDIT: here's the download (see readme.txt for usage):

Attach file:

zip Accuracy_font.zip Size: 13.72 KB; Hits: 135
zip GREEK_TRIANGLE.zip Size: 15.92 KB; Hits: 48

For windows there's excellent and comprehensive font editor: FontCreator. I use it, though if you're looking for a freeware editor there's FontForge.

Just keep in mind that it can be daunting task to edit font as they have a lot of properties, offsets and various markers.

I forgot to add some pictures, here they are.

@admins: feel free to remove them should they eat too much space...

I relocated the download attachment to the first post.

Might want to post actual images, not 400px wide static GIFs. It's pretty much impossible to see anything on there.

Was bored and tested Ubuntu Condensed and Open Sans Condensed Light.
As you can see some paragraphs at original text are not formatted.

Hey,
I use Font Lab for Windows. It's an older program, and it won't work in 64-bit systems, but it may if you do some playing around.

You can scan a font-sheet and import the graphics as a template for each character. The program uses vector graphics, so you can really fine tune each character. I have made some very complex fonts with the program, using calligraphic type letters. Your saves are in a FLW format, but it will then allow you to convert them to TTF or Post Script, and a couple other formats.

There are also some effects that can be applied, such as mirror, negative, sizing, and more. I used to do a lot of document creation, and having a strong font program pays off. FLW will let you import any TTF or Post Script font and make changes to it. You do have to be careful, many fonts have copyrights.

Hi there (again).

So I'm going to make another font (yes), this time it's ancient Greek style (looks nice on the map). I'll still make sure it fits into Freelancer.

First impression (I didn't made it yet):

Greetings,
Gold

EDIT: oops, image too large
