Creating a generic ID

I started a small server yesterday for myself and a friend using Discovery 4.86.

We quickly found the ID system causing problems in regards to limiting what items could be used on our ships.

I located the "no_control_item = 0.1" line in the techcompat.cfg file and changed it 1, thinking that if we launched without an ID then it would be fine. Which it was, but of course now we can't tractor anything.

Is there an easy way to create or give our characters generic ID's so we can use any equipment without limitations?

Thanks in advance.
