Tools list?

Hey guys, since it's been a long time since I modded FL I am just wondering what the complete list of tools and versions might be?

I was actually planning on making a stripped down version of virtual XP in order to create a development environment of sorts for myself. For example some tools have been superceded by others so a list of currently used tools and what their uses are would be fantastic for me to start building my environment.

Thanks

Check out Fl Mod Studio on the Starport home page it'll cover most aspects of modding currently.

Surely its not all of it? Like the replication functions of FLDev? Is that included as well?

Sry was in a bit of a hurry last night there are several new tools available but FL Mod Studio is probably the most significant addition.

http://code.google.com/p/freelancermodstudio

FL Dev is an excellent replacement for the IDS editor

http://forge.the-starport.net/projects/fldev/files

and FL Companion is essential for creating a trading infrastrucure

http://wiz0u.free.fr/prog/flc/

and HardCMP for Hp editing

A text editor I use Notepad ++

HardCMP has largely been made redundant by UTF Editor, which is available there:

http://svn.the-starport.net/utfeditor/UTFEditor.exe

I highly suggest people move away from HardCMP, just like I suggest people move away from FLEd-IDS. Both are unsupported, whereas FLDev and UTF Editor still are.

I'm still use the HardCMP and FLEd-IDS on my mod, and I don't understand why you suggest people move away from those tools, may you can tell me that?

Thanks for your time.

They have bugs that can't be corrected. If new features are desired, they cannot be implemented.

Essentially, you can keep using FLEd-IDS and HardCMP just like you can keep using Windows 98, but that doesn't mean you should. UTF Editor is better than HardCMP on virtually all fronts, has more features and is more robust.

Furthermore, UTF Editor is the only model viewer/editor which is compatible with the normal mapping-enabled model format used by Freeworlds, so if you want to take advantage of that you'll have to move to it at one point no matter what.

- FLDev for IDs
- any hex editor
- UTF editor
- any text editor
- decryption software or SDK packages of INIs and THNs
- ALE editor (or UTFXML)

Sure there are system editors, weapon editors etc.. but at the end of the day they do nothing more one could do with a text editor and perhaps some simulation software, if necessary.
