Just getting back into this game...
I have done the usual "before I ask a silly question that has been asked a million time before" research on this forum and withh google, but still I am a little confused. The conclusion of my research seemed to suggest the the best install sequence for patches was: 1. Original game from the CD. 2. Official MS v1.1 patch. 3. Quickfix 1.0c patch. I have done this, but I have since found that the main Freelancer menu screen still says v1.0. Is that right, or have I gone wrong somewhere? Presumably the next thing to install is FLMM 1.31 and play some mods ![]() Many thanks in advance, Jerico

That ist right, as that 1.1 patch does not destroy compability with the unpatched game. Don't know about quickfix though as I don't use it, but I thinks it's the same.

1.1 is a server patch, you don't need it unless you intend to run one. If you're going to play mods I wouldn't recommend any patching at all, as they usually incorporate what's needed in the mod files.

The best vanilla update patch is the JFLP update patch. It should be available in the downloads section. It picks up where the SDKs left off and fixes a lot more stuff. Plus, it's stable.
Thanks Adoxa

Thanks for your responses.
I decided to re-install Freelancer, for 2 reasons. 1. I needed an unpatched copy to install the Discover Mod: 2. I wanted to get the patching right. (I know, pedantic, but if anything is worth doing, it is worth doing right) So, I clean installed Freelancer, next I installed the Official MS Patch 1.1, and then I downloaded and installed "Jasons Freelancer Patch" (which I think is known as JFLP). Anyway, all seems ok, but I have some observations: 1. The Discovery Mod seems a bit odd. I am on Manhatton with the basic ship that is equiped with no guns, and I have only 500C. Well, I have some work to do. 2. The Discovery mod install said that the Audio Dialog file copies (from the clean Freelancer install) failed. I copied them manually... 3. I noticed that Freelancer now supports the widescreen res of my monitor - 1440x900, Bonus! 4. The JFLP download file had a weird name "jflp.exe.bin". I removed the ".bin" bit and it ran ok - Identified itself as v1.2 in the JFLP readme, but mentioned that it included lots of other patches of variouse version numbers. Potentailly confusing, but I am happy to ignore it ![]() 5. The JFLP download page mentioned some issue with a mission - what is that all about? Thanks for your help! I really am looking forward to getting back into this great game.

4. My free web hosts don't allow the .exe extension, so I appended .bin. JFLP is itself based on previous patches, hence the multitude of numbers.
5. When I did 1.0 a bug was introduced that prevented completion of Mission 9 during the SP story (I locked a gate that I didn't unlock).
