Hi there,

I'm not new in Freelancer modding, but this game lost my focus in the last years due to the closure of my favorite TC mod server : Gateway.

After playing the SW:TOR betas, the lack of good sci-fi games got me back in, and I recently decided to work again on my own TC mod.
A few words about my mod (it's a work in progress) :
- only new systems, for the moment the entire solar system, in 'realistic' proportions (size, distances, planets size, stations size, ships size, starmaps,...)
- only new ships, both for players/NPC, from differents sci-fi movies/series
- new commodities, new equipment
- a dedicated php portal with advanced fonctions (crafting is one goal)
- a lot of things too long to explain in a introduction...

While the learning curve is high, thanks to this website (and others), I still have difficulties with :
- effects (modding, creating)
- encounters (different types)
- fine solar / solar modules placement on map

I want to add, I have backups of everything I could find about Freelancer for the 8 last years (custom ships, plugins, tutorials, tools...), so I could have a lot of ressources that became unavailable with time... Feel free to ask...

On a side note, I'm 32, I'm a IT technician, I know PHP/HTML/SQL/AHK pretty well, a little of java/C++, but I'm a specialist in 'out-of-the-box' thinking : for an example, I was the first in the world to release a custom map for Battlefield 2 when the SDK was not even released (blackhawkhunt map, some may remember it).

On a last note, I'm french, so please forgive my language mistakes !

Have a nice day... See you on the boards....

Well, welcome back to Freelancer man
You are right about the lack of good scifi games, although there are tons of outstanding-good-looking games out there, they fall severely short when it comes to game depth and replayability.

Hope your project goes smooth and we'll be waiting to see how it turns out.
See you around.
