Where is the atmosphere_burn effect (from effects.ini) triggered? I mean which file defines that this effect starts when you enter planet's death zone? Or is it hardcoded (which is what im assuming it is)?

I've modified the atmosphere_burn.ale effect and tested it using starflier. Now when I use a larger ship, the new effect is too small. Could I define a different atmosphere burn effect for each ship?

nope.
You can modify ale effect of atmosphere_burn to make it bigger.
In the small ships you can`t see the size of all effect anyway and is just perfect for cruisers/battleships .

People looking at you will see the oversized effect, though.

Burn.

Not exactly what was requested, as it works on type, but I think that honors the spirit of the request. Still, if it's necessary, it shouldn't be a problem making it work per ship.
