So, I'm not super-new to modding, but all the games I've modded have had tools released by the developers and a plethora of information on getting started. Freelancer seems to have neither, and while I'm not totally lost when it comes to using unfamiliar programs, someone to put me through my paces and teach me the basics would be nice. I would like to eventually work on a larger mod, but for now, I'd just like to learn how to do the most basic modifications (eg: new systems, new ships, new missions, new weapons, new commodities, etc).

My email is 521ved@gmail.com. Please email me or PM me if you're willing.

Thanks!

-Devin

I am not used to big-scale system adding (for I use to work on the code manually); however I am familiar with basic thn and model/material file structure, basic effects alchemy, Freelancer physics and all the basic stuff about equipment, stations, faction interactions and ships.
Also I wouldn't agree that there is little starting basis for newcomers. Conventional modding is pretty well covered to the public and while not all the best tutorials can be found in one place, a quick google search is the very most one would have to perform. However, an interactive learning partner is tendentially more effective. You may hand me a PM if there is any way I could assist. (But please, do search at least the site before asking questions like "How do I change cruise speed?" or so)

You can ask me via PM, too.

Just one hint for you:
Freelancer is a big bug.
Means: There are sometimes situations you have to solve with unlogical solutions.
