Huhu folks
![]() my mod is kinda gettin to a stable stage, but there is one main problem which i cant solve: when i want to open the chatbox (pressing ENTER in multiplayer) randomly FL just crashes. When i delete the restart.fl file and fire up FL again it works for some time. It also happens when i edited a char via DSAM and log in to it. As soon i press ENTER the client just crashes.... ![]() But after deleting the restart.fl file it kinda works again. So the bug is solveable but me and my testers are not happy with the "solution". (deleting restart.fl everytime) So does anyone have an idea on that issue? greetz,

Interesting I just noticed this happening on an .exe I am working with at the moment.
It started happening after I applied a load of hacks, but I'm wondering if the one that's having an effect is the colours hack. http://the-starport.net/freelancer/fo ... t_id=23655#forumpost23655 I used Adoxa's FLColors config through TinyHexer. I've used it before and everything seemed ok but I have noticed this time the CTD. I haven't had time to have a good look at it yet, but I'd suggest getting a clean Freelancer.exe and re-applying any hacks you've made one-by-one. That's certainly where I was going to start. Good luck, let me know how you get on. Equally if I get round to it in the next few days I'll try track the bug down. Cheers, Rik

@DJ: Huhu DJ
![]() feels good to be back in fl modding =) @rik_starkiller: Thank u very much, having kinda progress here =) the only color that was changed was the one indicating the weapon energy. i changed it back to vanilla and now we r gettin like zero CTD when pressing ENTER in space (i dont reversed the other exe offset hacks yet) BUT if i edit a char through DSAM there some problems: DSAM is using FLHook to kick the player before it applyes the changes i made. (i guess) So the client sees a message box "connection lost try again, blabla" and a "OK" button. When the client klicks on OK -> FL window kinda disappear to the upper left of the screen and FL crashes silently. client restarts FL -> everything is working fine and even the chatbox still works normaly. when kicking a player ingame/console via flhook (.kick$ id) the message box comes up, client is klicking OK -> no CTD so maybe adoxa's script messes something up (cause pressing ENTER doesnt give CTD anymore) & maybe DSAM<->FLhook is doing something. but doing the hacks step by step sounds like a good idea, i will see if i can find the time for this. greetings, /edit: my language is very unkewl when im drinking^^

just found something new^^
when im using our single player version of the mod (wanna tarck down this error), which uses kinda like the same offset hacks like the multiplayer one there are no CTDs in singlepayer. -> pressing enter ingame (single player mod is using adoxa's singleplayer console) hope my language wont get u confused^^ The SP exe just have the different colors aswell and dont ctd. is there any tool that can compare the exe offsets like winmerge does with text files? cuz i know there are differences between the SP and the MP exe. Of course i forgot about writing a changelog -.-* and going through every single offset in the wiki and compare it with the vanilla EXE 2 times, i think ill go insame^^ greetings & good night, i hate jetlag ![]()

do post the crash offset and i'm sure adoxa will have a look once he gets back. if you're lucky maybe even one of the other reverse engineers is able to help.

Good Morning
![]() so ive done a a bit of research and found the offsets i changed in the MP EXE file. (see the attachment) My changes are behind the offsets description, so u can compare it with ur ones. Later on i simply replaced it with the vanilla file and kinda the same happenings occured: No problem with opening the chatbox. But as soon as i edit a char and the client wants log back in (without closing the game) -> crash even when the client wants to go to the main menu -> crash Restaring the game after the crash & log in -> works hope i dont focus on the wrong things^^ greetings,

I think we should start by using the vanilla flserver-, freelancer.exe & common & content.dll.
it hasnt got to be just the freelancer.exe @MoD: i upped some stuff to ur dropbox, check it out if u want

lulz thx for the spam^^
replaced te files with vanilla ones & the problem is still there, maybe im just lazy^^ + i dont see a problem for the client to alt-f4 and wait till his char is edited (staring up fl + login = ~15secs ) maybe rik will find the "error" (hopefully) cheers,

I'm not sure I can help guys, I've not used DSAM and have very little experience with Hook.
Seems to me you've got 2 separate errors there. The chatbox I think is fixed but I'd suggest the DSAM/FLHook error is separate. That's all I can offer guys, sorry! Rik
