Tbh they could've managed a lot better. The whole lighting code is a mess and buggy (i.e. lights on beams crash, dynamic light memory leak, etc..).
Also, I think vanilla FL has a 4-light limit IIRC.

I was about to say, if you provide the models in proper formats, they will always be used in FL or another game (i.e. Star Citizen).
